First thing, don't use the word "adulting". It makes you sound like a giant baby. An adult is not something you do, it's something you are. 24/7. The day you turn 18, you're done "childing".

Second thing is actually all the rest of the things. Pay your bills on time. Set a budget for yourself, and stick to it. Don't spend money you don't actually have, any debt is bad debt unless you're using it to build or establish credit, or pay off major purchases you otherwise cannot accommodate in your budget. Save money when you can, never know when a big expense will pop up. Get good exercise and treat your body right because it's going to go to shit on you real fast if you don't. Treat the people close to you right, because you never know what's around the corner. Don't put yourself in a situation you won't enjoy being in. Know your value both in the job market, and in the dating market and aim accordingly. Know that only a coward is always kind, and a coward will be used and abused his entire life and become bitter and miserable. A strong man has the capacity for anger and cruelty, and is compassionate enough to only use them when necessary.

Take care of your car. Get your oil changed regularly, if you hear a noise, address it as soon as you can. Make a schedule for yourself, and stick to it as best you can. Schedules aren't chore lists. Even if you only schedule a few productive things in each day, having them on schedule makes you far more likely to actually do them. Learn to handle things yourself. The more skills you learn, the more dependable you become. People will notice that about you.

Know when to speak, and when to remain silent. When you speak, take your time, because what you have to say will be worth hearing. If someone tries to speak over you, correct them every single time. Remain silent when you feel someone isn't giving you all the information. Their urge to break that silence will cause them to give away more than they intend. Sleep. Seven hours a day, minimum. You will be more alert, and more energetic in your every day activities. Last thing, work hard. A good work ethic will take you much further than just settling into any old job. Always remember that every workplace is a competition, no matter how friendly it seems. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there and expect to get what you want, such as a raise or a new position, so long as you are sure you deserve it.

Being an adult is being proactive about your own life instead of taking the back seat and watching yourself trip up. Be smart, be worldly, and most importantly, don't be afraid. There's nothing coming your way that you can't handle if you just put in the effort.
