Not as comically out of whack as the others posted, but Tomb Raider started as this weird Survival Horror Platformer to an Uncharted clone.

Although one that did get a little weird was Oddworld. First two games were 2D Cinematic Platformers, third game was a third person kinda puzzle game that wasn't quite a cinematic platformer ... ? ... I didn't have an Xbox so I skipped it.

Stranger's Wrath was a straight up third person action game with heavy FPS elements. Actually invented the "slow down time to select a weapon" mechanic that became popular years later.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts is similar. Originals are the epitome of 3D collectathon platformers and N&B turned it into a vehicle creation, driving, flying game. Still platforming elements but way turned down. Even the hub has a GTA like system of police that will chase you if you cause mayhem.
