Alpha Protocol had amazing storytelling with multiple choices.

The graphics just looked like a ps2 game and the enemy AI was garbage.

If they fixed those main problems, it would be a great game

It's funny because AP was what I first thought of when I was making this topic but I decided I don't necessarily consider it bad. Still, I get what you mean.

I loved and played a lot of White Knight Chronicles. I am so sad what happened with it but it was enjoyable to me. Would have been nice if it ended up being a big Sony IP but they flubbed. Customizing knights and having practical giant mech battles on a field could be great.

Always felt that that Final Fantasy XV had some fun ideas and epic moments despite a rough execution. The villain was interesting and the game had some interesting side characters who got criminally little screen time (Aranea, Ravus, Gentiana). I may be one of a few who enjoyed the road trip vibe, I would love to see what could be done with a livelier world with more people, traffic, and interesting side quests to run into.

Need for Speed The Run has some truly amazing cheesy action movie vibes, but it really needed more time in the oven for all the actual substance. We desperately need more racing games that have a broadly appealing hook besides realism, open world, or kart racer.

Silent Hill 4: The Room.

get rid of the escort mission, or at least, improve on it and use some enemies other than the ghosts, and it could have been really good (obviously tweaking it in other areas, too), IMO.

the story and Walter, as a villain, were well done.

Playing through XV the first time felt like a fever dream. So many characters that apparently matter but dont get the screen time to become prominent, plot points that only exist to serve as DLC, the entire last quarter of the game being literally on rails

The game looks and sounds so good but is held together with tape and dreams

Yeah the game has a lot to love. The vibe of the game, the main party is one of the best in the series, the music, the world itself. There are some good moments too, but it all feels underwhelming and rushed. Leviathon fight could have been one of the best scenes in the entire franchise, but it felt off. The Malboro fight would have been better if the DLC was integrated better. The train part is weird, but you can tell it was meant to be a turning point. The final chapter being so rushed, yet the ending being so powerful. That weird time skip.

This would be mine. I avoided it for a long time due to reputation. I started and deleted it a few times too. All of a sudden few years Back I had a breakthrough. I got stuck on the water boss. I wont spoil it. I put it away then maybe 6 months ago gave it another go. I got to the end but......i needed to make room for another game on the hdd for a 100gb game thats alot acreage. I transfered it off to a external. I'll get back to it. Its middle of the road FF wise. Worst ones being the FF13 games.

The first TMNT game. Imagine it with a larger, Guacamelee-type world but using the 4 Turtle setup and side-scrolling action. I actually like the NES original, but I know others despise it.

BTW, I think Zelda II is an excellent game as well. The two NES games are my favorites in the series.

One more: Rastan. The play control had a nice touch, but the game was littered with too many cheap-o hits and unavoidable damage. Subsequent ports and sequels never improved on it, but there was a hint of a winning formula there.

Going out on a limb and saying it was better than any of the Silent Hill games other than 2 and on par with and sometimes even better thematically and story wise than 2.

Seeing your comfortable, safe, room slowly change as it went along was the kind of horror PT was going for almost 2 decades earlier.

No but it fixes the shitty gameplay, the long loading, crappy performance, and most if not all the bugs, which is where the main complaints always were of the game

Also, shitty level design? I mean some levels weren't the best but not all of the game had shitty level design

Anthem. A monumental upgrade to the loot system, missions and post game and it could be something great.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out of the Shadows. It was a $15 dollar Xbox arcade game that was a buggy unfinished mess, but the combat and the turtles themselves were fantastic. The special moves were dumb to pull off as well, though the game had tons of potential.

Resident evil outbreak.

These games was greatly held back by the PS2's hardware. With how ambitious these games were they would fare way better on our modern platforms.

Hell even for their time period the original Xbox would have been a way better platform for their outbreak experiment since the Xbox came standard with a HDD already, mandatory ethernet requirement right out of the gate, had the largest online console gaming player numbers for it's generation, and a basic voice chat headset. (The headset in the spirit of online survival horror co-op working great with the proximity chat function (halo 2 was using proximity chat even back then). How outbreak worked is that you could not type during gameplay and you had to rely on emotes. With proximity chat they could have made it to where you can voice chat with people in the same room and thus keeping that survival horror feel when you get separated).

The RE outbreak games really was at the wrong place for the time. Online PS2 gaming.....it was "so-so". Later online PS2 games like socom 2 also started trying to do a ethernet only requirement to cut back on the massive lag 56K modem users would cause, but at the time outbreak 1 released it was still possible to use 56K via the PS2's modem/broadband adapter add-on. Loading was ridiculously long unless you had the PS2 HDD to install the game on.......and the only way to actually get a PS2 HDD in north america anyway was to buy final fantasy 11, =/ Even if you did have the PS2 HDD, non-HDD users and HDD users were on separate "settings", and so a HDD user could not utilize the HDD game install and play with the non-HDD users (and of course the vast majority of the online population were non-HDD users because no shit what with the FF11 HDD bundle requirement).

Also the EU region got screwed with their version of outbreak file 1 never having online play in the first place.

The outbreak games really deserve a second chance now that we have the proper consoles like PS5 and xbox series alongside the PC for it.

Just like a balance pass on difficulty or something, since I find it interesting otherwise. Not really sure why the game starts out so oppressive when everything depends on a dice roll.

Tales of zestiria could be made into a better tales of game. Improve the artes lists for all of the seraphim characters (as they are now they all just feel like fusion fodder that you use for the game's armatization gimmick with sorey and rose). Scrap that awful lord of the land equipment fusion system and retool that into one that requires way less effort and confusion. We are going to need some new cutscenes better explaining the motivations and expanding on the character of the game's main antagonists, because as they are now kittybeard and simmone (the goth seraphim chick, too lazy to look up her name) were basically just "there". Same with lunarre and alicia's instructor. Like all of the antagonists were just weak for this game.

It pains/annoys me to say it, but the game despite it's many faults actually sold well, lol. It actually pisses me off it sold better than the more quality tales of games, but that is just the way shit happens sometimes. This is why it could be worth revisiting and actually fixing this one though.....potential more sales from the switch crowd I guess.
