The US CDC is well-respected around the world. It is a leader in public health and it is frequently looked to for public health advice. It is a huge component of American soft power.

We are so screwed. Nobody with a functioning brain should be listening to RFK Jr. about anything - honestly our best bet is probably to look at the CDCs of developed countries in Asia - Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, and so on. It seems as if those countries tend to take pandemic prevention a bit more seriously than we do in the United States.

I do not know how it is humanly possible to be *worse prepared* for another pandemic now than we were in 2020, but that's the case. The only possible explanation for this is that the MAGA crowd likes it when people die, because they have created a government so horribly incompetent that, if another pandemic were to occur, we are almost guaranteed that more people would die today. That is just sad.

If the Democrats somehow manage to take back power in both the next midterm/presidential elections, then they could prevent this through a combination of preventative measures designed to remove and/or arrest GOP traitors as well as pack the courts, and implement policy that offers immediate and lasting relief to the working class.

Hyper polarization isn't going away. There's no easy fix to it. We saw in 2012 and 2016 people who voted Democrat out of self preservation had their lives improved and felt comfortable enough to go back to voting Republican.

the working class, we've seen, cares about grocery prices (and that's about it). They hate immigrants, even the ones who were immigrants themselves. They think trans people are unnatural and they hate any hint of criminal justice reform. Trump is the most corrupt individual imaginable who's pardoned the most corrupt people. The fact that *anybody* in a union job votes Republican is just depressing. Yet many police officers, teachers, other public employees, and other unionized workers *do* vote GOP, and it is just sad.
