I remember my friends using it frequently as a pejorative word and I don't know if it's still in circulation anymore or if maybe the community has taken the word back like they did queer, but it doesn't sound right from the previous negative connotations. Although that word used to be for the opposite scenario, I suppose you could say a masculine presenting person.

Only see this one written this way in porn nowadays so it definitely fell out of use, other than that i see the version with a hyphen as an insult but usually in works with a medieval setting.
