About 34% through the story. Just beat Sol. Did the side quests to fight Sludgemaw to farm kickballer. Holy fuck one of the most trolly bosses in my Borderlands memory lol.

Running Vex. I tend to always pick the sirens in Borderlands. Tried Rafa and his cannons were cool but I just love having an (almost) always online action skill instead of waiting for a good bit.

Some UI stuff needs to change. No way I should click so much just to find how much money I have.

I have Sol and Callis beat and just started the third region...

Playing as Harlowe and loving her action skill... Turned it from a nuke to a bouncy ball that follows enemies and is also a nuke lol

Performance is rough and the inventory needs work but the gunplay is really damn good and the story is actually solid.

I think you mean Gearbox Company CEO Randy Pitchford? Director I think has been more neutral saying they are working on fixes and reviewing community feedback.

Randy is of course, doing very Randy things in response to the launch.

For playing on PS5, I have not seen many issues. (I decided to avoid PC since I would have probably had issues with my current one.)

Menu UI is bad in a lot of spots. Cutscrnes seem to cap at 30 FPS in some instances. And have seen some funny ragdolls happen a handful of times during play.

Overall though, I have been enjoying the game. A few things I would like to see tweaked (example: world bosses disappearing immediately if they knock you out of the bubble or you accidentally step out.), but I think they have a good basis to start with compared to BL3.

Threshers are so annoying to fight if you don't kill them within the first five seconds. Can barely even hit them with harlowe's skill so they keep playing whack a mole

Sludgemaw the thresher boss I'm farming right now is that x100. So many times where his icon will pop up on the radar but he refuses to actually surface. Have had fights where he takes 1-2+ minutes just hiding his ass down there for whatever reason.

Generally I haven't had too many problems, but I have experienced where on console if you play too long or keep the game on too long (from rest mode) then the frames do drop. Just have to dashboard out and and restart the game.

I got it last Friday for myself and my brother (his birthday). I've played every Borderlands (1 - 3, Pre Sequel and Tiny Tina's Wonderland) and they've all ended up boring me. Like, they are games I should enjoy, but over time they just do not have my attention. 2 was probably the one I spent the most time on, but even that one I ended up bouncing off of.

However, something about 4 has me. I think it may just be the big open world with no instances. That, and the move closer to Destiny style movement options (double jump, glide, grapple hook, summoning your vehicle whenever, dashes) along with other QoL additions (upgrading inventory / ammo space at any point, auto junking items, just overall better UI) has me wanting to keep playing it. I don't even know where I am at in the story, think the scientist just got captured so I'm still not the farthest, but I've been bogged down by just doing a bunch of other stuff.

So far I like it more than all the others. Online performance sucks, though. Playing with my brother at one point turned into a horrible slide show until I reset. Otherwise performance hasn't been bad. I am playing as Rafa, the melee oriented skill tree. It isn't the best, so I am considering maybe swapping.

This and the inventory occasionally just going blank and not displaying anything are the worst performance related things I've seen on base PS5.

I also thought it ate one of my Golden Keys at one point but that was just an issue where Shift logged me out for some reason and keys are tied to that.

On that note, if you use any Golden Keys make sure you're logged into Shift, the chest can apparently just not open but still burn a key.

Rafa melee feels really bad without a lot more skill point investment. I had to swap from it as well. Krieg is probably the only character that felt right from the start for that playstyle.

His red tree is super comfy early game until you get those levels up, though. Might even be too powerful.

I'm like level 16 or 17 with all 3 tiers of options for the first mod. I've mostly focused on putting all my skill points into anything melee oriented, but yeah, it really doesn't help if on hard mode, I get fucking 4 shot by a badass and can't even use my special.

I'll check out the other skill trees and see what they offer

I've only played 3 hours but so far I think I like it better than 3. Seems like they went back to more of the dark humor from the first 2 games instead of the meme character shit that was all over 3(sorry Vaughn, but if they gave me the option I would have left you hanging there in your underpants).

Also the inventory and UI is so much better on PC. It was absolutely awful in 3.

I didn't hate the story in 3, or the two main villains, but I hated the UI and most of the side characters.

I read that multiplayer has had quite a few bugs, like only the host being able to get any quest progress even if everyone is on the same thing.

I like this game but it i played all the others with friends. I am trudging through alone.

I dont really like any of the classes much so far but I like it better than 3.

I played the fuck out of 3 and legitimately enjoyed it.

Wonderlands soured me, then the DLC pissed me off, and now we've got Rancid Pitchfork doing his absolute fucking best to Rancid Pitchfork out enough shit to convince me to not even bother until they figure out their bullshit.

They pulled a smart move with this one and left the main story fairly straightforward and serious and left the more wacky Borderlands stuff to the side missions. Very LaD feeling.

Vex feels comfy for me as a siren main. Hopefully the two new vault hunters are great.

I typically have played as a Siren but I dont enjoy pet classes much. I like being the one doing things. I am using whatever the build that let's her shoot orbs but I dont find it very game changing so far. I am level 20 and playing on hard.

I love pet/summon classes. My friend tried the familiar build and said it was underwhelming so I tried the dead ringer class. Have been having a blast. They can hold their own or provide a good distraction and I always like having a more constant action skill than waiting a long cooldown for a really good one.

if you change the duration of the ECHO path to short, theres also less cooldown
i also rebinded the key to a thumb button on my mouse to make it slightly easier lol
i feel like itll be patched for no cooldown real soon but its holding me over for now

Got my first Legendary enhancement in a world drop, and immediately went "Neat, but I don't really like Daedalus guns" and banked it.

Then like an hour or so later I got the Oscar Mike in a vending machine, and now I'm all about that Daedalus life. I basically never need to reload and am almost always in the first 50% of the magazine. Only downside is it doesn't work as well on bosses that don't have adds and that I didn't find them at max level.

As far as manufacturers go, I'm leaning hard into Jakobs and Vladof. A lot of under barrel attachments are really good and Jakobs with the crowd control help is really fun.

Currently level 40 on my main and just got to the mountain/snow region. I farmed my ass off for a bit haha. I know farming before 50 is discouraged but I just can't help it

I love farming before 50, I'm right there with you. Yeah the stuff I get will be useless at cap but it's still fun.

And I was also sticking with Vladof/Jakobs until I got this. The game really loves throwing me guns with Jakob licensed parts and Vladof underbarrels and yeah those underbarrels are insanely good.

I want the Oscar Mike with the Jacobs crit rebound part.

This your first borderlands launch, huh

Jakobs was always my go-to, at least for pistols and snipers. Meeting Wainwright in 3 solidified it, dude was easily among the best of the new characters.

Luck Cannon on Nisha in TPS might be one of my very favorite setups.

Their alt fires pull from a different ammo pool. So a Daedalus shotgun's primary fire will be the shotgun using shotgun ammo, and the secondary is still the shotgun but it pulls from your pistol/sniper/SMG pool depending on the roll.

Kind of boring tbqh.

Does it stack with both gun types for skills and items and whatnot?

Like, if you have a skill that gives +2-10% bonus Shotgun and SMG damage and a Shotty Main/SMG Alt, will that skill affect both depending on which trigger you pull?

Because it's not super exciting but I can see it at least being exploitable.

No idea, honestly. I'm sure all the build nerds are still figuring all that shit out.

PS5 performance is reliable with the memory leak issue having a easy workaround ATM. (Save quit)
If you liked 3 you'll love 4, I am pretty confident.
But if you do PC exclusively either wait or research the setting changes people have made that make it run smooth.

Plus the only BL game I ever bought at launch was Wonderlands, so I'm not gonna make that mistake twice.

If anything, it'll be in a few years when the DLC pack is like sub-30.

Order and Ripper also feel kind of eh. Having to charge before letting your weapon rip full auto just feels bad for ammo economy and makes me feel less in control when it comes to handling.

I like Ripper but I don't really like charging Order guns unless it's a Sniper Rifle... With Order Assault Rifles I found it easier to just mash the trigger

The only Order gun I've liked was the legendary sniper Fisheye, which has a 40% damage buff on crits and fires three round bursts that are pretty accurate but also waaaay wider than they look so they have a kind of AoE thing going on.

Ripper can be ok with the right mix of licensed parts.

I love that licensed parts can roll something completely useless though. Like the Jakobs 1-shot shotgun I found with the Hyperion "accuracy increases with continued fire" part.

My single favorite example of that is Fallout 4's random Legendary system sometimes giving you a Ghoul Slayer Gamma Gun.

Ghoul Slayer makes a gun do more damage to Ghouls.

Gamma Guns shoot radiation.

Ghouls are healed by radiation.

So anyone find any great grenade legendaries? For general mobbing/story going, I prefer going nades for AOE DMG/CC instead of the OP Knife (which I assume will be nerfed sooner or later).

For anyone thats made it that far, hows the endgame? I was very disappointed in 3s base game endgame, and even more so with Wonderlands, so Im hoping its at least better than those 2.

After completing the main story you gain access to a handful of short quests that lead you into UVHM.

It's hard to explain but essentially you have challenges you must do while in UVHM that will unlock wildcard versions of previous missions, which each mission unlocking a new UVHM.

There's only five levels vs bl3 ten mayhem levels.

The scaling for UVHM in BL4 is also way less extreme than mayhem levels. UVHM 1 begins at 150% enemy health and you take 10% more damage. UVHM 2 only goes up to 200% enemy health and 12.5% damage taken etc

I'm hoping it's them learning from 3 and apparently TTWL where they nerfed a buncha stuff early on and it caused backlash with the community

Amon needs some buffs from what I understand.

Two tips I've come across...

Make sure to inspect your weapons, sometimes stats like critical damage or splash damage just...don't show on the default item card and you have to inspect them to double check.

And finish the campaign before LV50. Any exp you earn after hitting 50 but before unlocking the post game leveling system isn't banked.

Did it work differently in the others?

Like, I (think I) recall 2 having a cap of 30 on Normal and I don't remember it storing the excess.
