The helicopter from DMC2. I mean most bosses in that game were bad, and the game itself was bad, but for me that boss fight stuck out as the worst part of the game.

The Pain in Metal Gear Solid Delta without grenades.

Slowly climb up the rock. "Tommy gun!". Dive back into the water. Hide for a bit. Slowly climb back up. "Grenade!" while you're in the middle of the climbing animation. Too close to shoot it so you dive back into the water. Swim to the other side. Slowly climb up the rock. "Tommy gun!"
You only need stun grenades. The Pain is actually kinda easy in MGS 3 so I doubt he's gotten a difficulty increase in the remake.

It only took me one try to beat him in the original game, I had a plan going into the fight. Which was being stocked up stun grenades and making sure I had full ammo for the tranquilizer gun.

Any SNK fighting game boss. Geese Howard has always been a pain in the ass.

I used to think the boss fights from Turtles in Time were hard as a kid but now they're too easy even on hard mode especially Slash, you can beat Rat King in under 2 minutes usually without taking damage or taking very little damage.

The Mysterious Figure in Birth by Sleep was utter nonsense. I've fought some crazy hard bosses before, including several that I would still call harder than this one, but there's a special place in the bad boss fight Hall of Fame for a boss with instakill rapid tap mechanics in the middle of the fight with no little mini cutscene to prepare for them or anything. That on top of just generally being absurd anyway. I dodge rolled more in that one fight than in the rest of the series combined, I think.

I was wondering how long it would take for this one to be mentioned.

While we're on the subject, the demifiend is also a horrible fight. Only two strategies work, both are subject to RNG, and even when the RNG goes in your favor it takes like 2 hours.

One of the worst, too?

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. The Black Knight.

You go through a very difficult area, to the boss fight with the Black Knight. Except you only get two characters, one being your main but the other being his potentially underleveled sister. Oh, and actually beating him (not just surviving) is literally down to an ability activating with like a 40 percent chance.

And if ya lose, no checkpoint.
came into mention this. and this post is actually missing some pivotal things:

  • The Black Knight himself has an around 30% to nearly one-shot you, and has stats so high that you need Ike maxed or nearly-maxed out to even have a chance at him
  • said sister is never required to be used in any chapter before this one (other than the one you get her in), and comes many maps after a healer you've probably been making liberal use of, so you might just end up instinctively benching her
  • the map before this, besides being somewhat difficult, very long and tedious if you want to do everything

Yeah, some of Fire Emblem's joy is the random number god and rolling the dice.

It's not so great when it's a goddamn duel based purely on luck with no checkpoint. It's just bad design. The final boss is 100 percent very difficult, but very doable with strategy. This?
