I remember passing notes before there were cell phones and people would come up with creative ways to fold them so they're hard to open.

One time this girl passed a note to a dude up front and a kid opened it and read it out loud. It said something about how she wanted to have sex with the guy and she walked out and didn't come back for like a week.

There's two things you're forgetting, though;

-In the 80s, bad meant good.
-In the 90s, poor literacy was kewl.

That and these things. I don't remember what they were called but they were like a magic 8 ball and girls would tell you to pick a number or a question on the outside and then open and close it a bunch of times to see what you get.

To this day I still never figured out how those worked.

Funding influences the quality of education. Even if funding keeps pace with inflation, it has not kept pace with cost of living.

Also media is accepted as knowledge. A popular protagonist like Batman [or fill in the blank] is accepted as a source of knowledge.

People ask me why I haven't had kids yet, and sometimes I wonder, then I read stuff like this and I am reminded "oh yeah, I made the correct choice not to have them."

I've heard several other folks say the statement "I'm glad I grew up when I did" and I don't disagree with them. I'm glad I got the 90s upbringing and not in the hellscape that is modern times.
