Watched Terminator 1 a few months ago and enjoyed it. It was simple but unique. Maybe I watched it a little late to love it but did like it enough.

I think this is a little better. The kid kind of annoys me. I liked having the Arnold Terminator be a good guy which leads to fun scenarios. The new evil Terminator is very OP. If Skynet can make those, I don't see the need to send one to the past, those things should be able to handle the remnants of humanity.

I wish the future was better fleshed out

I think I have it as Cameron's third or fourth best

The first was done on a shoestring budget. Some of the stories of its making are funny about them filming in the middle of the nights fast and quietly because they never got approval or were allowed to film there and couldnt afford to pay for permits.
the second is so well made though. It would be great to have another one that felt like that

also definitely check out True Lies. Its such an amazing and funny movie I feel doesnt get much attention anymore. I like it more than most his movies

Skip the rest of the Terminators IMO. T2 had such a nice, wrapped up ending that everything following it just felt completely unnecessary.

I like T1 a touch more. Just so dirty, meaner and the cast feels even more outgunned by the Terminator than the cast in T2. Even if the budget was smaller I just liked the look of the future war where the robots used big vehicles and only humanoids for settlements. T2 it looks cleaner, the humans die from a shot to the chest rather than just exploding and the humanoid robots are foot soldiers.

I forgot about that one. I'll put it on the list for sure. None of this shocks me, Cameron is an amazing director. How you feel about not getting another Terminator is how I feel about not getting another Aliens. That was a godly movie but Avatar being so successful hurts us

Eh I think the Terminator in this being indestructible goo also made the feeling of being outgunned. I prefer this slightly but both are good watches

Look it's hard reviewing 35 year old movies. I could imagine it being a 10/10 if I watched it decades ago. For me to pick it up today first time and give it a 10/10, 35 years later, thats good

That said I watched aliens first time last year and that was a 10/10 and this isn't on that movie's level

It's the best movie in the franchise.

It's one of the top 5 best action movies of all time plus it has a kick ass soundtrack and got a kick ass arcade game adaptation. Not many movies got an arcade game adaptation back then.

I didn't watch back then. Im not sure what is think if I watched it in the 90s but as a first time watcher it didn't feel like a 10/10 movie, not even close. It was fun though

I rate movies for how they hit me when I watched them. Terminator 2 probably influenced a lot of movies and I watched the movies it influenced before I watched Terminator 2

The thumbs up makes me want to throw up.

Other than the creeping sentimentality, great action film. Though the relentless budget nastiness of the first film is superior.

T-1000s were hard and very resource intensive to make.

TTSCC is a great show and the only post-T2 media worth watching. Fuck Fox for canceling it.

It was a prototype. There were no others and it was created as the Resistance won, there was no opportunity to make more.

I know Terminator Salvation always gets lots of hate, there were bad choices in it, but I like it and wouldnt mind seeing more of the future. It was a nice change over basically the same plot over every movie and show

The 6th Day is essential Arnold you should watch that before anything else.

Sarah Conner Chronicles was amazing.

You should definitely watch it if you have the opportunity.

Going off memory here, but the T-1000 had a few problems with it.
1) It was meant for assassination, not front-line combat. It wasn't able to handle the same heavy weaponry that early Terminator models could.
2) One of the ways it was made so good at stealth and infiltration is that it had learning modules installed, which gave it a sense of self-awareness and capability for adaptability that other Terminators lacked (later Terminator models, like the T-800, also had these modules but always had them switched off unless some specific scenario required otherwise; this is shown in the extended cut of the film). However, Skynet feared this function - its own capacity to learn was what caused it to rebel against its human creators, and it was paranoid that Terminators that could learn would similarly turn against its rule. As such, T-1000s were seldom deployed by Skynet, were always monitored closely for any signs of betrayal, and were coded with instructions to self-terminate once their objectives were complete, so as to minimize the risk of the T-1000s growing too independent.

But remember, in the future they're not using projectile weapons any more. They're using directed energy weapons, like the "Phase Plasma Rifle in the 40 watt range". Directed energy weapons would shred T-1000s like tissue paper. Searing hot plasma would scorch right through them, and whatever it burned would be irreparably damaged. Remember, they dissolved one of them in acid too.

I think I'll check out The Abyss.

You absolutely should. Very much a sleeper kind of movie. Cameron's other work always seems to overshadow it. The water tentacle scene was the early template for the eventual T-1000 liquid metal effects.

I recommend the extended version for the added context though.

I havent seen it in awhile but I think it ended fine. Like they dealt with the seasonal bad guy but obviously didnt manage to do anything about Skynet.

I doublechecked and the cliffhanger is when the group jumps ahead in timeto the distant future.

Making it about as good a place to wrap up as possible given that most shows during the writers strike just got canceled.

I think the T1000 stabbing people in faces was a bit much for a 7 year old. I mean, it didn't do damage to me, but I could see it being too much.

Also Jessica Jones season 2 is a marked step down from 1. That's the problem with a B-tier character: they used her one and only good story in season 1. I've heard 3 is better but 2 put me off it enough that I wasn't much interested moving on with it.

Oh yeah for sure. I wouldn't say it was bad, just that it misses that big hook like the purple man had. I love her as JJ most def. My wife LOVED the first season.
