I think its considered a "dialect" of mandarin. I don't fully understand how dialects work but I guess it's like a version of Mandarin. So if you spoke it, you would have an easier time understanding a mandarin speaker than if you didn't know Gan

Mandarin (Singapore)

Okay, sure, I got a slightly-less-common dialect but still, I basically hit the jackpot with that one. I now speak the most common first-language in the world* (and among the top spoken languages even when including second languages), and if that extends to reading/writing, I can basically read a bunch of others too due to their mutual intelligibility, not to mention getting a huge leg up on kanji in Japanese (which I already speak alright but really struggle with the reading/writing).

*I'm now second-guessing myself on whether Mandarin or Spanish was actually the most common...

I guess I make a plan to go to Bulgaria. Actually, it doesn't seem too bad, nice cultural mix of different ethnicities. Try to get an good translation job, or get into the music scene there, show them a side of Canada that isn't Nickelback, Bryan Adams, Shania Twain or Justin Bieber.

Varna Bulgaria is one of the best places I went around the world. Super nice and clean city. Port city near the Black Sea. Great weather, food, cheap cost of living compared to a lot of Europe. You and the guy that got Romania hit the jackpot. Id move to Constanta Romania. Also a port city near the Black Sea.
