Just nabbed a first place with this, only my second or third time going full endgame with pirates

I googled and found out that rank 3-5k is considered average or beginner, i searched because I felt like i was getting to the better/more skilled players tier but i essentially have gotten past the bots

Elementals and Quilboar are busted Imo... Or rather I can pull both of those off decent enough to get me to where I am now

Elementals being more consistent

Mr. Bigglesworth is a fun hero or just absolute trash with no in between from what I remember

Yeah there's some strong heroes and some crazy food quest/hero/buddy/whatever combinations that can result in a snowball or also hinderance sometimes

It's the cat you're playing in the screenshot lol. When a player dies, he gets to pick a minion from their warband.

This new set is favoring Quillboar a lot.

But my most fun strategy so far is chimeras (the 5 cost one that gives you 3/3 for each different type everytime you rally). Add a bunch of rallies and those permanent 3/3's stacks up ridiculously fast.

Like me right now, I'm locked in to playing dragons pretty much because my better option was the (discover a dragon for 1 gold per term) unlocking at level 4

I regret this choice idk how to dragon build

He's very feast or famine because you basically have no hero power until people start dying.

I still think this season is a bust. Last season was a blast, but the quests in this season make no sense. You get something that requires scaling, but the only way to get it is to spend 60 gold, which by that time there isn't any point, so your forced to go with a quest reward that is far worse.

I've had some insane quilboar wins, but they don't seem as easily set up as elementals, both are fun af though I love cycling a ton of elementals

I just learned about the game maybe two weeks ago and have been loving it

I'm going to try to Branch out and try other builds now that I'm comfortable with these two

Yeah, I've not played in a while, but I'm subbed to r/bobstavern and the posts I've seen indicate it's a pretty weak season balance wise.

I'm not surprised, Rally was already very strong when it was on just a few cards before it was a full keyword. An entire tribe based around it is oof. Also makes it a lot more swingy and luck-based since who attacks first is random.

I agree. I wouldn't mind if trinkets was a permanent feature for me. I like trinkets because it can boost the power of some strategy I want to play, while the quests feels like it forces me to a strategy I don't want to.

I remember the quests that requires playing minions from some type but I need the reward for the other type, so I'm forced to buy and sell minions of a type I don't want and waste time and gold for a reward.

And this alone skyrocketed Illidan's power and that Elemental Hero that gives windfury. Illidan can garantee 2 free rallies at start and not even accounting stuff like the quest reward where it can attack again or even windfury.

This is my first season so I have nothing to base it off of, it does make me optimistic that I'm getting this much enjoyment out of what is (from what Ive noticed online) a more than weak season

Yeah, I'm going to vent a bit. Just got a quest, play 5 beasts or demons for the quest reward +1 gold each new round. You'd think that would be easy enough to complete, might get it done in 2-3 rounds. It took me 5 F'N rounds to finish it because there were no beasts or demons in the tavern. Even after refreshing.

I'm sitting at 5200 right now. I found one method to get a bit stronger is to really pay attention to your opponent, and don't go for the strongest quests. Some of them are way too difficult to complete. There are going to be turns where its better to just sit at rank 3 or 4 and build up your board.

If you're looking to improve I'd suggest watching a guy named Jeef on Twitch. Maybe the best player in the world.

I don't know how this version of pirates goes, but I remember them being pretty tough because they're so APM heavy.

You're definitely more active on pirates than you are on other things, I'm at noob levels so I don't think my apm is getting up there playing any type though

But after using a few cards and noticing stuff, seems like a lot more stat additive cards in general have permanent effects

All stats bonus that happens during the preparation phase (pre-combat) is permanent. All buffs that happens during combat is temporary until explicitly said otherwise.

Which is why there are dragons that flat out says that all buffs themselves or allies gets is permanent.

Effects that happen in the combat phase are only permanent if a card says they are.

Effects that happen in the shop face are only temporary if a card says they are.

This quilboar does not keep the buffs it gives itself in combat.

This quilboar is an example of one that can be permanent or temporary. If you trigger its battlecry in the shop phase, it's permanent. If you trigger it in combat, it's temporary.

The main gimmick of the dragon tribe is that they can keep buffs they gain in combat with these two cards, but it doesn't mean all spells are permanent. So referring back to the spells, Sharing is Caring is a very good spell for dragons because it's permanently adding those stats, but Raptor's Revenge still only lasts one turn.

I think the only other big outlier is Naga and their Spellcrafts. Spellcrafts are spells that a minion will give you every turn, but they're temporary in that they are discarded if you don't play them.

A lot of Spellcrafts are temporary buffs in and of themselves but not all of them.

The buff this one gives is temporary, but it does permanently increase how much this Spellcraft gives you. So the temporary buff gets better the more you play it.

Lava Lurker is a minion that can make these temporary Spellcraft buffs permanent. (I dunno if it's good now, but there have been times where this + Deep Blues was a very nasty combo)

I think LoR issues was kinda shown that some concepts were fucked from the start.

Mixing the deck building concept of Magic and YuGiOh (Archtypes AND Region-locked) meant that deckbuilding got the worst from both worlds.

And for the few people that cared about lore, LoL is basically retconning stuff to suit Arcane, and their deck building contradicts the cards anyway.

Riot kinda shown they left the game to die since they already going physical TCG and even using LoR art for the stuff. That is pretty scummy.

The game doesn't really look like anything special either. If anything it looks like they want some excuse to use the arts of LoR.

Good fucking luck trying to compete with MTG, Pokemon and YuGiOh nowadays. The only cardgames I can see even being able to enter the market are the Disney one and Flesh and Blood. LoL lore could be something huge but they botched it completely I guess.

One thing I meant to mention and then never did. This is very much a "leading people to things I cannot acquire" because I'm bad at it, but probably the biggest skill hurdle in this game is the ability to pivot.

If you have a board full of murlocs when you get to tier five and you're rolling and rolling and rolling and can't find a Bream Counter or a Bassgirl or a Brann or what have you, guess what? You're not playing murlocs.

Part of the reason I just like playing characters that have inherit self-value early game that can be sold.

Patient Scout can give you a discover for a card you want or at very least you can sell it for 2 gold which makes the pivot hurt much less.

Or just pick cards that generate gold. I really like the pirates/nagas for that.

But most of the time I just force my way in when I'm not really playing competitive and I just want to play with a particular type at that moment. Shop be damned.

Yeah I'm feeling better about my ability to play a few tribes well now, but pivoting is a major learning curve/something to work on for sure, just like Tft

This can be done, but you have to really be good at the game.

Like Kripp used to do it a lot when he played, there was a time period where he forced Divine Shield Poisonous Murlocs every single game.
