I have very patchy memories before my teenage years, which a number of therapists have theorised is likely a defence mechanism in response to early trauma. Had a horrible roommate who treated me like crap, moved out of state where I had no friends or family, worked a shitty job, got fired from said shitty job, became super depressed and had zero prospects or ambition, got arrested for stealing after becoming broke and had to go to court, and then my sister died - all in the span of one year.
