its limited in choice compared to other D&D games like pathfinder, but its still better then 90% of the rpg slop on the market. sad they'll never get to make a baldurs gate 4 though.

I cannot believe two years have passed and I have not gotten to this yet. I want to. I need to. I will.

I just think of how many hours a full playthrough will take and get intimidated. The only time I get lots of time away from work is around Christmas. Maybe I will take the plunge then.

Speaking as someone who played it with no familiarity with the other games, yes, absolutely. I understand there are some references to the previous games, but nothing you absolutely need to know to understand what's going on here~

But then you can't get the special super omega evil end though!

I'm starting to wonder when I should stop waiting for the people/person behind the PHB All in One mod to finally finish updating it so I can start a new playthrough. Dipping into Battle Smith as Gale, dabble in the Oath of Noble Genies as the MC, the Astarion Rogue Gloomstalker strat's even better, Wyll Spellfire sorlock looks neat, and going in the Grave Domain as Shadowheart and Dragon Knight Lae'zel's looking fine.

Oh, and Karlach would be following a pure giant Barbarian build because either punting everything off cliffs or chucking things at everything will never get old. Path of the World Tree does look neat though.

Still in the backlog and theyre still releasing huge updatesMaybe next year. This is one of those things that I know is gonna be a massive time sink so Ive kept on putting it off.

Ive been waiting for a new computer, which I will probably get in a month or two.

Also been meaning to finally play the first 2, which I have had for years but never played more than the beginning of BG1.

The Emperor isn't a playable character

It only gives the illusion of choice instead of the real thing, but I love it. One of the best games of all time.

I've still only played through it once, my first character

I've started a few others but I never make it very far. I always have the need to do everything, and that's too much.

...And it's still $70 on PSN and goes on sale for like $56 twice a year.

I really want to play it, but my PC is getting older and I've been waiting on it to drop in price or at least go on sale for something reasonable on PS5. I guess the game just sold super well and so they don't feel the need to do particularly big sales on the thing or drop the price.

i was about half way into act 3 when i felt overwhelmed

not helping is i had hit max level which kinda drains motivation

uh, it definitely has real choices.

when I played in early access I killed Shadowheart in the Nautiloid and had to play like the first half of act 1 with only 3 party members and no healer.

Your companions don't matter, they're just named NPCs that you can kill in funny ways. The story only ever goes from A to B, even if it has a handful of different ways to get between them.

Pepperidge Farm remembers when the ending was only the dock scene or IN MY BHAAL'S NAME.

I too havent played it yet. Got huge backlog i want to play before tackling the d&d series. its gonna be back to my old baldurs gate original saga save, icewind dale save, start tales of the sword coast, bg II, icewind dale 2, nwn diamond and nwn 2. Whew.. for me its after all them hours of d&d ill finally buy bg3 whens its like under $10 lol

...unless of course bg3 goes on sale for like $15 and ill probably jump right into it and bypass my d&d videogame journey and play the backlog some other time hehe

The rest of the DLC is self-contained and of varying quality, but this is a direct continuation of the story and it is outstanding.

It legitimately competes with Planescape as Avellone's best writing in a game.
