I have one and it's plugged in, but I haven't tried it in a few years so I dunno if it actually still works.

I didn't get a PS3 until the end of that gen, so I have one of those super slims with the sliding cover (which I still think is pretty neat). Haven't hooked it up in a couple years, though.

The last I knew both my PS3 work. I haven't used either one probably 10 years or more, though.

I have two since I originally bought an 80 GB one that had software emulation for PS2 games, but later picked up a 60 GB model that was all hardware for PS2 games. For the most part it doesn't really matter but there are a few games that glitched out if you used the PS3 with software emulation.

Tales of the Abyss had a game breaking bug if you used the 80 GB model that stopped progression. You could get past that by using a PS2 or 60 GB PS3 and play the rest of the game just fine, though, on the 80 GB model.

First gen PS3 got YLOD. Tried to have it repaired and now it turns on but has too many issues to really be worth using.

I never had one, because I went through 5 or 6 xbox 360's in that span instead.

I have a 60GB launch model PS3. It got the YLOD and never bothered to get it repaired.

Yes. Played final fantasy 2 on it a couple months ago only to find out physical copies crash during certain scenes making the game unplayable. Though I still have my PS2 and it works just fine there.

It shut down some years ago and wouldn't boot up. It very likely has dust build-up, but I had moved onto PS4 by that point and never bothered.

I have an 80GB phat with that half-measure PS2 disc compatibility. That one overheats quickly but I imagine a cleaning and new thermal paste would take care of it.

I also have a 250GB super-slim that still works great, but I pretty much only use it for a yearly run of Demon's Souls and a lot of digital PS1 purchases.

A lot of people don't seem to know that every PS3 model is fully compatible (ok, maybe some niche titles have issues somewhere) with PS1 games. The removal of PS2 compatibility seems to have sucked up the mindshare there.

Phat ps3 still connected in my entertainment center. Still chugging along. At some point I'll boot it up to play the sly cooper collection.

Yes. I still play NCAA14 on it.

I'm about to start the original Dead Space once I'm done with Cyberpunk again

I wish I had the first slim, I got the cheap feeling super slip with the disc tray.

The motor for the disc drive makes a high pitched squeal too IIRC.

Sort of? The console powers on and can play any digital games I have, but it can't play blu-ray games.

DVDs, blu-ray movies, and ps1 games all still work for some reason

I have the Slim and Super Slim and an Original! The original works, but when I turn it on, the fan starts going crazy, its so loud it sounds like an airplane in the room. Even when just sitting in the main menu. When I tried playing a game, it forced shut down itself after like fifteen minutes. Sucks because I wanted the model that could play PS2 games with HDMI out.

Yes, I took really good care of it. Constantly cleaned the dust from it, always "idled" it off for a few minutes so it wouldn't go from hot to cold too fast. Et cetera.

Its one of the really nice 60gb models with "near perfect" BC.

The console works great. The only problem is the controllers that have lost their ability to have a good battery charge.

Same issue here, I believe.

It also had a horrible sticking problem that I guess is pretty common with the controllers. The fix was easy, alas, I probably just need to spring for new controllers at some point.
