On s3 now on Smallville. Still enjoying it but what annoys me is whenever Chloe and Lana are in a scene with eachother they only talk about Clark. I know this was pretty much how female characters were written and still are. But yeh.

S2 Finale and S3 opening was really great tho.

why did that irritate you, they only talk about......? Yeah the smallville makers said they tried especially hard to make the 1st and last episodes of the season really really great. Makes sense why they would do that. This show absolutely deserved to top the weekly nielsen ratings , top viewed shows in the u.s. every week. Iirc it was usually around the 100th most viewed show of the week iirc.

She was his girlfriend/ best friend from when he was a teen before he ever left Smallville.
Since he never met Lois before being Superman, in comics shed kinda be the Lois for when he was Superboy.

she stayed in the comics even as him as an adult, but theyre just good friends. Shed mostly be around when hed visit Smallville. She Married Pete Ross for many years and they had a child they named Clark.

shes been around since maybe about 1950. Over the years Supermans Smallville origins kinda change often so her importance in his life often changes.
She was his love interest in Superman 3

Oh I said it wrong, just watched episode 9 Asylum when Lex has been put there.

I think romance is good when done well, but its my least favourite thing about shows like this when its only for drama and padding shows out.

Smallville isnt anything special the way they handle romance, it was pretty much the norm on shows. Its not interesting when for example Chloe in s2 only cried about not being with Clark and being exposition dump.
I accept it however since it was like that back then.

As I said I think they started doing it better in later seasons but s2 that was pretty bad.

Otherwise s2 was great, I mean it had Christopher Reeves in an episode, expanding the Superman lore, buildup with Lex and Clarks relationship, Lex and Lionel. And the finale was dark with Clark being the reason Martha loses her baby and those scenes was phenomenal acting of everyone involved.

Oh I got a great deal on apple TV, like 50 bucks all seasons like 5 yrs ago.How much was yours? Was such a huge fan have all discs too. Show prob was not cheap to make it had action and special effects. Iirc when I got the apple TV, the Amazon one was not available. Where would you place Smallville on your fave shows list ? I have Seinfeld 2nd. Many many bad TV, imo.

It's Smallville, who has blocked an absolutely mind-boggling chunk of the board for reasons following no discernable pattern.

Like, usually I can figure out where or why someone blocks me/others, but it's been years with this dude.

Podcast started season 7. I really hope they continue with 8-10 even if Michael Rosenbaum isnt in the show anymore.

Saw the s3 episode Velocity where Pete is doing Fast and Furious with kryptonite NOS. Its a weird episode cuz the whole story and premise was pretty bad but Sam Jones acting was so great, and just makes me sad his character wasnt used that much and eventually got written out.

Sam Jones didn't crash out nearly as badly as Allison Mack, but he did release a sex tape and go to jail for possession with intent to distribute.

I've seen the tape and I will say this: Pete Ross is a meteor freak in at least one way.

That episode was great. Really disliked the Fast series though. Sam Jones talked on the podcast before about he was written out , iirc Sam Jones was a huge fan of the show and really wanted to continue iirc. Personally thought Jones was one of the weaker actors. Why do you think this show never really took off ratings wise though?

Tom said on the pod he knows the details but didnt want to talk much about it but yeh there was some bad blood between Sam Jones and the network it seems.

I think Sam Jones did great on the dramatic performances, like the Velocity episode he made me feel more for him than Clark.

Pete was a weak character yes, but the actor was good. Its sad that they didnt make Pete a better character.

No its not my all tile favourite tv show.

Finished s3.

This season was a change feom s1 and 2s freak of a week where every episode pretty much wrapped everything up. Yes there are freak of the week episodes in s3 but its evolving into a more serialized show.

Best part is Lex and Lionels story. The start of Lex becoming who is ending up to become, such a sad story.

Chloes character was majorly improved from being just expsition and in love with Clark getting herself into danger by involving herself with the Luthors.

Lana is still the damsel in distress getting knocked out every episode but the love story between her and Clark was done well. That they cant be together cuz Clark cant tell everything to her.

The Superman lore has also been more explored, I dont remember much why they are portraying Jor-El as an antagonist to Clark, but well see.

Worst parts were that Pete was underused and eventually written out, despite the actor being great when he was on screen.

And some boring freak of a week episodes.

Now gonna finish up s3 of the podcast and then continue on to s4, excited for Erica Durance as Lois Lane.

Transference was great iirc makers of this show and welling or rosenbaum liked this episode. Yeah season 4 was one of the weaker ones , personally felt last season was very week . Loved loved mirror box episodes season 10. Disliked season 4 cause I don't really like sports. Season 4 was not terrible imo especially compared to the the other stuff that was on TV at that time. Another thing lana seemed to be kinda unpopular . Liked her much more than most people . Did you really like Durance?

Kinda liked lana better imo better actress. Prob an extremely unpopular opinion among fans . Has welling ever said which he preferred? Also iirc welling was like paid a lot , lot more than the others actors like the difference was very very great. It was like a brief article or YouTube video so I can't say it is total fact though. So like possibly he was the only only one that was a multimillionaire from pay, on the show imo he was a good actor but not the best actor on there. Iirc the article I read could not confirm it from the makers of the show though .....etc....

Was that new for the show? All the comics I had read (prior to the show starting) was about how it was to save Kal-El. Nothing about conquering earth.

Dr Swann said in s3 the conquer earth message was not for Kal-El. They havent adressed that in s4 so I dont rememeber whats going on.

Anyway I have now finished s4. Weakest this far, But it still has great episodes. Transference was awesome, I think Tom Welling did an amazing job as Lionel despite being still new to acting. John Glover was also great as Clark.

The 2 Alicia episodes were also great, the ending also showed Wellings acting chops.

Run with Bart Allen was fun, I remember it being so awesome 20 years ago having more DC heroes showing up.

It felt like the last half of the show was better. Most freak of the week episodes were really bad, especially the slaughter of Mr. Myxpltk character.

Lex had little development but slowing going more to the dark side with the obsession and experiments.

Chloe once again had the best development, I love how she handles learning that Clark has powers, such a supportive friend.

Lanas kryptionan tramp stamp witch story was juat horrible. But I like that her development is slowly making her less innocent and not just a damael in distress, her and Lexs relationship is growing.

Lionels character felt weak too, Inget he has been changed but I dunno, wish it was done better.

I liked Jensen Ackles performance as Josh but him and his mother was also a crap storyline I didnt care for.

Best character is Lois, just gotta love the banter between Lois and Clark.

This far Id rate the seasons:

S1: 7/10
S2: 8/10
S3: 9/10
S4: 6/10

Now gotta finish the s4 podcast.

I thought - and still do - that it was a nice little touch.

I also remember the scene where Clark is dancing shirtless in the barn with the witches because....there's just no way he didn't have a foursome there, right? At the very least, the Lana witch slept with him. Though I guess it's less sexy times and more sexual assault.

Yeah the dancing, its from the mosty cringy episode Spell, I hated that episode, but I feel better after listening to the podcast and Kristin Kreuk was a guest.

Soon done with the podcast s4. Its still great. Though sometimes they and especially Michael miss important things in episodes then hate the episode cuz of that. Its not that often but s4 Blank was the worst one. Where Clark gets amnesia and Chloe helps him.

Michael goes on a rant why doesnt Clark tell her everything that he is an alien etc, I mean come on did you forget thet Clark has amnesia?! Also being nitpicky about things.

Bit random but the way you described that scene kinda reminded me of this scene in this old movie called Almost Famous, that has a similarly bizarre scene and it's portrayed almost exactly the way you described only they're not witches just regular groupies. But the witch/wiccan orgy undertones are there.

Just was surprised at getting a flashback to that from your description.
