I am not a completionist at all. So I can't say how hard is getting all the gems on the other two in comparison to 1, but just by playing the games level by level I feel 2 and 3 had a significant drop in difficulty

1 was the one I could never beat as a kid

Coming off the broken ass SNES platformers it was easy.

The original PS1 one, I already find that one hard. But I could beat 2 and 3 just fine

I never got past the High Road in the remake. I get worse and worse at platformers the older I get:(

Yeah, some of the levels are kinda ridiculous. Sunset Vista and Toxic Waste come to mind.

Not to mention that it's the only crash game that requires all the gems to truly finish it.

Those stupid bridge stages. Yes I am aware you are suppose to walk on the ropes at the side but that only makes it slightly easier.

The remake broke the jump physics and hit boxes. The level is still hard on PSone, but it's far more manageable because getting the jumps right on a consistent basis is easier. On the remake you're better off cheesing it with the rope.

i can agree. have to get the purple relic to 100% the game.

Crash 2 is the best.

I honestly hated how they added the relics into the remakes in order to get the platinum.

It's like they oiled up the ropes in the remake too :/ still 100% the game but I probably lost over 100 lives just on the bridges.

I100%d the remake. It has some really dumb parts, but I think it is very doable compared to other games. At least the game is functional and works as intended.

Crash 1 is actually my favorite of the original Crash trilogy. I like it having less gimmick levels, it has a better atmosphere and sense of progression, and the increased difficulty is a pro for me.

Terrible save system and no dying for gems.

Had this issue with tomba since tomba basically has unlimited lives

Getting gold relics in the harder non-platform levels of Crash Warped is more unpleasant than anything in Crash 1; one of those game series where the general consensus is completely alien to me.

Same. The trilogy was my first exposure to Crash games. The first was my favorite for the same reason.

Crash (2004) is what i thought this topic was about while i was reading the title. "The other two what?" I thought.

I gotta give it to Crash 2.

The gimmick levels never wore out their welcome. Even the Jetpack wasn't THAT bad. Just ok.

Meanwhile the platforming was way way way way better and more imaginative than Crash 1. The controls were more responsive, crawling, sliding and high-jump led to much more fun gameplay and level design.

I also think the secret levels were more creative and the lack of having to not die to get the gems was a massive improvement. Crash 2 is actually fun to 100% rather than a chore.

Granted I don't know how the fuck you're expected to figure out some of the colored Gems.

Crash 3 went too far with the gimmick levels but Crash 2 was just better than Crash 1 in almost every way IMO.

And that's not even touching the questionable stuff with big titty Tawna.

Actually had fun with this one even if it took me nearly an hour! If theres an exception to the non-platform levels being a chore its the jetski ones for sure.

Tomba! is basically a point-and-click adventure game with metroidvania mechanics, its fine that doesnt have the flow or challenge of an arcade game.

This topic made me go back and attempt the time trials on Crash 2 since that's all I'm missing for the platinum and I want to blow my head off.
