Genesis game is better, but Snes one is still great and the one i grew up with

I've only rented it once 25+ years ago and found it kinda mid.

Never played the Genesis version, probably would have liked it more since I enjoy most David Perry games.

Again, the Gen's twangy audio is a barrier for me & its Aladdin is prime annoying.

Strangely, I think the SNES game might've not hit as hard without the Gen's game hype. Would we still be bringing it up all these decades later?

Console Wars are awesome, if you like AVGN you should watch all their old videos.

I like this one. Short and sweet, pretty easy (though the carpet escape from the cave was pretty tough for me as a kid). Feels like a good introductory platformer.

Nah, I disliked most of those licensed games when I was a kid. Hitboxes were too janky, and the level design was a mess.

As much as I like that capcom music in the SNES version, the genesis' sprite animations with disney animators having worked on it looked crazy good for it's time. Up there with that great earthworm jim animations.

Also a sword is indisputably cooler than flipping on people.

*If you buy that modern collection that comes with aladdin genesis and the lion king snes+genesis I believe a DLC was released that added the SNES capcom and the jungle book SNES+genesis to the collection also. Pretty decent value if you get this collection on sale.*

IMO the licensed games of this era were actually quite good. Aladdin, Lion King, Mickey Mouse, Animaniacs, Toy Story 1 all had decent games come out at this time.

A lot of the ones by japanese devs were pretty great. Notably capcom and konami's offerings. (Konami made a tiny toon adventures game on the NES+gameboy that felt just as fun to play as super mario bros 3).

The disney afternoon collection on the PS4, xbox one and PC has all of capcom's NES games in it and they all slapped. Tale spin is the weakest link there and even that game isn't like, bad bad, just wasn't as good as ducktales 1 and 2, chip n dale rescue rangers 1 and 2, and darkwing duck (which is basically a mega man game since it was made in the mega man 5 engine).

....and yeah, nintendo got screwed with this collection. Its so weird since its a bunch of NES games, lol.
