So basically, this post in Japanese Twitter has garnered a lot of negative attention for claiming that women who only want to hug and cuddle in a relationship are no different from men who only desire sex.

I understand where the thought process comes from, but it still comes across with incel vibes

Is that actually a common enough phenomenon to call it out?

Theres definitely a phenomena of women who just go on dates for a free meal. Its not the same as in this tweet, but it definitely exists and is pretty fucked up

obviously the majority of women are not like this, but theres selfish people of every gender

Any dumbass that takes someone out to dinner as the entirety of a first date deserves whatever happens.

Paying for someone's meal the first time you meet them is not a smart move.

Eh I always pay for my dates meals. I just make sure to talk to the woman for a while to make sure we vibe and that shes not just in it for a free meal before we go out

I dont usually do dinner dates on a first date though to be fair

I understand the importance of sex in a relationship, but it's more demanding on many people than hugging/cuddling as forms of affection, and a lot of people also have negative associations with it.

there are no easy answers but I don't think it's a 1:1 kind of comparison.

with that said, I feel like couples with those kind of issues should either look for help, if they feel that their relationship is worth it, or end things and try to find partners who are more compatible.

There needs to be way more context to this tweet for anyone to be mad about it

This is a really weird tweet and the fact people on CE are siding with the guy is weird.

It wasnt a guy. Read it again. Other women felt resentment over what OP said.

I meant "the guy" as in "the person", not guy as in male genitals.

I do it with the lads too. It's gender neutral to me.

People work at different speeds. Some need to take it slowly. Some are fine with it happening on the first date. Dont expect anything is a safe rule

When we say guy that only wants sex is that a guy who wont date a woman that waits too long to have sex or a guy looking to sleep with her as fast as possible then never call her again. I can see an argument for the former being the same but I always picture the latter with that expression and those are absolutely not the same.

Maybe the resentment comes from the notion that being a woman gives you the authority to assess other women?

Women have a capacity to be dickheads in relationships just the same as men and withholding sex can be, but is not necessarily, one of the avenues for doing that.

However, its really not a fair comparison to make to the pump and dump crowd.

The original post is open-ended enough that every single person is going to read it, project their personally imagined scenario onto it, and be right. And then everyone is going to argue about this pointless shit because nobody is coming from the same premise. >_>

it's a running joke in shows where it's "Hey, free meal" which does not help the distrust. Both sides distrust each other and for different reasons.

Ive watched a few videos where someone interviews Japanese citizens about issues like this. Apparently a large amount of couples in Japan become sexless, especially after marriage or having a child.

So much so, that it's acceptable to go see escorts and the like for ones physical needs.

Of course this is just what I gleaned from these interviews. I could be wrong, so for anyone living there, feel free to correct me.

From what Ive talked about with coworkers and friends, its a Boomber thing. Younger generations think its really bad.
