I helped the next Nevron by giving it an INTACT MINE, cause that seemed like a good idea.

I've been feeling kinda sick tonight so I'm gonna leave it at that for now.

It seems interesting for sure. I've spec'd a bit into burning things so that seems to ramp her damage a little bit.

The creature is called the Curator and I guess he is just gonna... tag along? WTF is happening?!?! XD

I like the Curator. Eh upgrades your weapons and doesn't afraid of anything.

Still sick, not sure if I'm gonna play today.

STILL sick but I'm finally on meds so hopefully things will improve quickly.

Not sure if I will get to play tonight but I am improving health wise so I will be able to get back to the game shortly.

Gonna play the shit out of it this weekend

Found Journal 68. Seems they were pretty successful overall, surviving the maelstrom that sent them off-kilter and destroying the Nevrons in their path after they sorta crashed into the Flying Waters. However, they note a "new one" that looks tougher than the others...

Uhhhhh, I can see it. This Nevron is HUGE! Uh oh.

I go from seeing this GIGANTIC Nevron and we avoid it at all costs to then fighting a... Mime? And the music change? WTF Clair Obscur, this is great. XD

I defeated the "Bourgeon" and the Mime in the Flying Waters. Both were pretty fun fights. I definitely seem to be running a pretty focused burn type party right now, where I focus on stacking burn and then using Maelle to hit like a freight train by going into the +200% damage stance when I hit something that is burning, and then using the like, One Hit piercing damage move.

We enter into a clearing and find a lovely rose and pluck it... right before getting jumped by some big fucking Nevron who seems VERY upset that I plucked that rose!

Nitpick - Interesting that it seemed like in this fight I could not jump to avoid his jumping attack, I had to parry. Either that or my timing was WILDLY off for trying to jump his little jumping slam attack.

Either way, I emerged victorious by the skin of my teeth. After we pacify it Lune notes that it seems fine if we don't touch the flowers, so we stop for a moment. Maelle goes to touch it, and it jumps away. Gustave shoots after it cause you know, it's a damn Nevron and all. Lune gives him some shit and points out that they will never find out what is going on if they just shoot everything that moves. Gustave asks Maelle why she was trying to touch the thing and she says that it felt familiar somehow. O_o

Again, makes me feel like Nevron's might be humans who were transformed by the Grommage.

Jumping attacks that are avoided by jumping will always show that yellow indicator.

You don't jump a "jumping attack"

Jumping is for ground based attacks.

I had to redo the fight a couple of times for being bamboozled on this >_>

Maelle's.... Nightmare?

God, this is all so well written. Their fears about the man they encountered on the beach, talking about how death seemed so peaceful from the Gommage in comparison to out on the Continent, Gustave still having that fire in him to discuss how death is violent and wrong all the same regardless, and the maudlin humor of their likely deaths. So well written.

Meanwhile the Curator is here to offer his services. Fucking creepy ass Nevron-like mother fucker.

Hmmm, ran into a Lost Gestral out on the map and now Sastro is in camp as well? He wants to be a searcher and find the Lost Gestral. He says there are 9 out there (8 now) and for each one I help him find he will give me a precious treasure.

Bet.

Now instead of going to the Gestral town, I'm gonna hit up Esquie's Nest? Why not just wander around and see what trouble I can get into, hehe.

try to get at least four of the lost gestral as soon as you can.

I needed a password at Esquie's Nest, so instead I went over to The Small Bourgeon. Met a small Nevron that needed to eat the skin of another of his kind, which I happened to have on me... so we will see what happens. Also found the journal of Expedition 53 here. No new information from that one really, just the unfortunate debate over whether or not to stick around in one place to let people heal or to move on. =/

Leaving and coming back, Bourgeon is now a big boy! In chatting with him he wanted to be big to see his mistress once more, but said instead of saw "the regent". He said that Mistress paints them, but the Regent "tends us". Hmmm, weird.

I decided to leave him alone after he gave me a little reward. Again I think Nevron's are connected to human beings who underwent the Gommage, so... yeah.

Made my way over to the Gestal Beach. Fuck that platforming challenge. These controls are too floaty for platforming challenges. XD

Made my way into the Ancient Sanctuary. Gestral's are dumb, but I love how Maelle just kinda "gets them". Went into a clearing and a big NEVRON ALARM went off... but they meant us. We fight this big fuckin like mech thing and a little Gestral was inside piloting it. In exchange for guiding us to the village, it seems to want Gustave's mechanical arm? Maelle is like, "You get us there, maybe he makes something even better!" The Gestral is fine with that and Gustave is just like, "Uhhhh... what?"

Hmmm, seems Expedition 63 somehow found ways to bring CARS with them? Finding their journal it seems that "Damien" crashed into one of the Gestral's big mecha's and it destroyed the cars. XD

Every Expedition has some kind of gimmick that they go with and document the effectiveness of.

Expedition 33's gimmick is the Lumina Converter.

Time to face off against the ULTIMATE SAKAPATATE!

... and it went down without much of a fight. Timed the parry's really well on that fight.

Hmmm, I'm in the Gestral Village now.

First of all, love that you can fight merchants to unlock new stuff to buy. Very cool. Seems the Gestral's are pretty much all big brawlers who love to fight, but one said something interesting. They accept Chroma as payment because they make offerings at the Sacred River as part of the "rebirth process", because they can RESURRECT AT THE RIVER??! The fuck?

In meeting the "Chef" (Chief) Golgra, we ask about crossing the sea to get to the Paintress. She finds it silly that humans are still obsessed with the Paintress, as a few expeditions have made it this far, once every few years. She asks about our boat since we obviously needed one to get here and we mentioned a White Hair Man destroyed it. She gives us respect for having survived the encounter, as this guy has also attacked the village before and in her words, "some survived".

She suggests we go ask "Esquie" to take us across the water. We need to prove how strong we are to get the password, since Esquie might just eat us if we aren't strong enough. Gotta enter the Legendary Tournament to get the password.

for the final fight in the tournament, people recommend you use Maelle.

I don't want to say anything more, but it doesn't affect the story either way.

Hehehe, I knew the "Mysterious Fighter" was gonna be one of ours! SCIEL!!! YAY!

Hahahaha, Gustave was about to regale Sciel with how the party got to this point, and Lune is like, "We can talk about that later, c'mon let's go!" The way he was just cut off right as the music was getting all dramatic was hilarious.

Just got end credits.

Left the Gestral Village and was immediately taken to camp.

Interesting chat with Sciel. Gustav asks her if her plan (assuming everyone else was dead) was just to be a Gestral fighting champion until she Gommage'd and she is like, "Well, it was a lot of fun so... maybe?"

Now I'm curious. This old man who lives on the Continent... maybe you DON'T Gommage if you're on the Continent rather than back at Lumiere.

Also, I did the tutorial for Sciel but I must have been kinda tired when I did cause I still don't think I understand how her particular skills work. XD

... OK, now, you're gonna have to follow me on this one a bit. Seeing them up close, the White-Haired Man looks like he could be an old man version of Gustav, and Alicia looked like an older Maelle wearing a mask with some messed up facial stuff going on.

I've heard the ending is... divisive, some people loving it and others hating it. If there are time travel type shenanigans, that could definitely account for some divisive opinions. My working theory right now is that somehow the White Haired Man and Alicia are "alternate" versions of Gustav and Maelle, ones who have been somehow corrupted by the Paintress into trying to keep the world in the status quo.

Sciel is the most complicated character to use, but doing so well is extremely satisfying. Tbh, I don't think you're gonna "learn" her just through her tutorial. One really needs to use her to do so.

Check the top right corner. If there's a sun it adds cards, if there's a moon it takes away cards. There's a few exceptions but that's the general rule. After using one sun and one moon, she gets a damage buff for two turns.

Expedition 66 was "tricked" into eating mushrooms by Esquie because his friend could eat them... but his friend is immortal. So the entire group ate the mushrooms and seems like they all died. Marcel recorded the journal entry until he lost consciousne-

Expedition 62 Journal from Virgile is all about how they were racing for Nevron kills. No mention of their unique plans or anything, maybe they were just all about going for maximum fighting skill and trying to kill everything that moves?

And now that I have Esquie, I wandered over to Yellow Harvest rather than moving on with the narrative. Uhhh... that Nevron is eating a mountain guys. And it is larger than the mountain.

That is doing me a heckin concern.

Well then, nevermind about a theory I had.

Expedition 38 Journal Genevive - She and Pierre-Oscar abandoned the mission after there was only like 3 left (and the journal starts with her burying Patrick near the lake). Here in Yellow Harvest they carved out a life together and awaited the Gommage together. She says she should feel guilty for abandoning the mission, but she doesn't, and that she is glad to wait for Tomorrow with Pierre-Oscar at her side.

And I found the journal with two bodies beside it, frozen as statues.

So I guess here on the Continent, you CAN be Gommage'd, but instead of disappearing into the ether so to speak, your body turns into a statue. That would lend SOME viability to my theory that those who get Gommage'd from Lumiere (and maybe other safe cities) are turned into Nevron's rather than simply dying. Why did those who stayed in Lumiere for the Gommage just disappear, while those on the Continent seemingly get turned into statues?
