I forget that Bing is the automatic search function and I went to type Google Chrome and it doesn't send me to the site and instead it has a button that says "You don't need to switch Browsers. Click here" and all I keep seeing is support pages for Chrome.

Then I used google and found it immediately. Just wow lol

Microsoft is known for doing some shady, sketchy stuff. Remember when they pushing people to upgrade windows a few years back and they were literally resorting to tricking people.

I actually agree with Edge on this one. You don't need Chrome.

Why would you need Chrome when you already have Edge? Edge is way better than Chrome. If you want to actually upgrade your browser you need to be downloading Firefox instead since Chrome is just a shittier Edge

i been using edge since i built this computer and it's fine tbh. my laptop and phone i use chrome. used to use firefox but on my current or maybe it was my old laptop it got to the point that firefox would just not work for some reason. like it would just be like dialup just trying to open the homepage and freeze up but chrome worked perfectly fine. i'm sure on here i could just go back to firefox but just haven't had enough reason to.

i switched to google as the search engine immediately. that's bad enough but better than bing and a lot of others. but they're basically all trash now since even duckduckgo sold out. i'm sure there's some better options out there but don't think any would work natively with the search bar without having to do more work than needed when 99.9% of the time google is fine.

Maybe it is because I'm not a PC guy as I got rid of mine 12 years ago from non use so I only use the PC at work to goof off like I'm doing literally right now but I never understood the differences between any of them.

I have been at my job since June of 1999, 26 years ago getting ready to start year 27 and when I started I just used an internet explorer tab and though the years it has changed. On our desktops we have the choice of using chrome, firefox, or edge. I just use chrome. All I do is type in a few sites into the address bar and go there. They all seem the same to me but it always seems people are highly opinionated about this stuff. Obviously you all use your PC's for way more tasks than I do so I'm sure it matters but I just don't get why.

At home I only have a tablet. I have an ipad pro and just use safari and I see no issues with that either. I don't care if I'm on Safari, chrome, whatever. They all seem the same to me.

It doesnt matter to the average person as much as the online discourse would imply, but if youre addicted to the internet and spend 16+ hours a day on a computer then its like the main thing you use in your daily life so its better to pick the best one based on your own preferences.

Firefox handles blocking ads better recently which is probably the main thing. Theres other factors as well but they arent the most important. Edge is fine cause you sign into windows with a Microsoft account, sign into Edge with the same account and it syncs all your settings and bookmarks etc, no need for a seperate Google account and whatnot, and it comes pre-installed on the computer so no need to download an additional browser. Theres not really a compelling reason in 2025 to use Chrome since it doesnt add anything that Edge doesnt have. Firefox has a few differences such as the adblocking situation which make it more appealing than Edge

Edge is just Chrome wearing a fake mustache anyway.

If you actually want a different browser, get Firefox.

Team Vivaldi reporting.

I tried it once many years ago and hated it. But I gave it another shot starting a few months ago, and it has come a long way.

Makes sense. 99% of my Internet usage is gamefaqs with a little youtube at work or streaming sports like the hockey game right now. I'm really barely online. As for blockers I work at a major state college and the IT department at an administrative level has some ad blockers that take care of everything and it doesn't matter what you use whether chrome, edge, or firefox.

I don't have any personal settings or bookmarks or anything. I don't use any of that stuff so it makes sense why none of this really stands out to me. Thank you for the explanation.

because Edge isn't letting me watch Disney+ for some reason but Chrome is.

Some sites work better depending on the browser. Disney+ is saying that something is wrong and to try and refresh but nothing's changed when I do. It's been like this for a week. I downloaded Chrome and it changed. I was just astounded by how Edge was acting when I was trying to download Chrome. It felt clingy and ready to gaslight me.

It was an accident. I forget it doesn't use google. I just typed it in the URL at the top and expected it to send me to google. Have been doing that for awhile and then I realized I was using bing but before that, I noticed it wasn't even sending me straight to the download. Just chrome support. It was being passive aggressive.
