https://www.dutchnews.nl/2025/06/far-right-pvv-pulls-out-of-dutch-coalition-over-asylum-plans/ For a year and a half, the coalition partners prostrated themselves before Wilders at the cost of the country, and let themselves be regularly humiliated without consequence to keep this worthless show alive, and now Wilders himself pulls the plug (and will probably reap the benefits). --- Comic book recaps 2012-2020: https://tinyurl.com/KaioRecaps ... darkmaian23 posted... What are the implications of this? New elections. Either the far right will benefit (we had great anti-immigration plans but the establishment was against us from the start) or the mainstream right will (Wilders had great anti-immigration plans but he was too lazy and irresponsible to let them be put into functional legislative proposals) --- Comic book recaps 2012-2020: https://tinyurl.com/KaioRecaps ... New elections will likely take place in October. I haven't seen a poll since the collapse, but if the election turnout is anything like the most recent poll, it could result in either a balanced coalition between regular rightwing/conservative and regular leftwing/progressive, or a far-right coalition again. It kind of depends on whether voters' memories last until October. --- Choco: why are americans so weird omniryu: To make a long story short, self esteem issue. ... Copied to Clipboard!

darkmaian23 posted... What are the implications of this?Tough to tell. The far-right PVV won the most seats in the last election and were absolutely dominating the other parties in opinion polling for while but their numbers have since tumbled from a high of about 31% at their peak to a low of about 18% in the latest polls. I think Geert Wilders is rolling the dice on this one. He needed to do something and he's hoping collapsing what he portrayed as an intransigent government over their immigration policy will be what boosts his party's numbers again, allowing for an even more dominant first place finish in the coming election. But there's always the possibility that voters will instead hold the government collapse against him and the PVV could sink to second, third, or even fourth place. I know what I'm hoping for. --- "Bothering people when they're shopping or going to work or whatever because you find them attractive makes you scum of the earth." MegatokyoEd ...
