Got a MOD pizza. Figured what the hell, why not. Wanna see if theyre as bad as a most people claim.

My thoughts: the taste and texture are fine, but they are way too salty. I knew they were supposed to be super salty going into it, so it wasnt a total surprise.

Curious what others think.

Once and never again

I can enjoy them every now and then but it's not something I want every time I order a pizza or even on the entire pizza when I do.

When I get anchovies I always order it on the side and then add them to a couple slices and that's it.

I had a pep and chove za last week. I don't do business with a pizza place unless choves are on the menu. It tells me you know. If don't have them, you are bland.

Its not the taste its the texture. Like if you ground them up into the sauce I wouldnt even notice. Its just salt.

I have not. I mostly get specific types of pizza (meat lovers or Hawaiian generally), and the only place where I would get choose my own specific ingredients didn't have them, so it's just not ever come up, but I would be fine with trying them.

Ruined the whole pie. At least the store did a favor for me and gave it for free but I pretty much threw it out.

There was no saving it. No seasonings helped. No removing the vile fish helped. The salty oily brine seeped into the cheese.

Unsaveable.

I worked at a pizza place that had them as a topping. The smell is absolutely horrible when they're going through the oven.

The texture is nasty and oily. That's what ruins the pizza imo, the oils spread like crazy and ruin everything.
It's not like pepperoni where the grease kinda pools up in one spot. No, it spreads fish juice all over the whole thing. Misery loves company and all that.

So yeah, I'm sure anchovies are wonderful if you want a slimy, salty pizza.

I had it once, many years ago. I liked it. Very salty, though.

I haven't had a anchovy pizza in years, but the last time I did had one I legitimately liked it alot, lol.

I think it was a pizza hut anchovy pizza. My local pizza huts stopped having anchovies for over a decade so me having one was probably around like, 2008 or something like that.

I had it before and enjoyed it. Didnt know what it was at the time though. If I had known I would not have had it lol

Haven't had it in a while because it's mostly just Papa John's I can get it from and I haven't had their pizza in a while. But I like it. I get it with pepperoni

I like them okay, but it seems like putting them on a pizza makes them the main flavor of the pizza and tbh there are toppings I like better

Did you wash off the oil they're packed in first?

Anchovies are delicious. I need something on the pizza to balwnce it out though. I used to get a small pepper & onion pizza half-mushroom and half-anchovy and it was perfect

I love anchovies. I used to get it all the time but no pizza places around here carry anchovies anymore. They stopped like 10+ years ago for some reason.

I said it in the last topic, I'll say it again.

Anchovies on pizza are the real-life version of that cartoon cat that lives in a dumpster putting a "fish skeleton with unskinned head" on their pizza.

I don't order anchovies every time. I just feel like a place that doesn't offer them is just sort of less than. It's the same with Italian restaurant that don't offer veal. Just like imitation places of real places energy.

That's my hot take. I respect if folks disagree it's just my own preferences. I won't throw a fit of somebody wants to go to Domino's or an Olive Garden. They have a reason to exist and that's OK. They're fine but obviously just playing flavors and offerings basic.

Had them a few times, but I wouldn't trust a generic chain to do them right.

Yes. I love pizza with anchovies and fish but rarely get it. I'd have it more if I knew a good place nearby to get it.

Ill have a slice or two with them but after that its too overwhelming.
