This is important because the main character is not technically authorized to be in this facility, and if we see the main character we're obliged to respond. Even if that happens, you've still got an escape hatch. Walk five steps in the direction of where you saw the main character, look left, look right, and if they have made even a cursory attempt at hiding, audibly say "huh, I guess it was nothing" then resume your patrol. Pray that they're making at least a cursory attempt at hiding because if they don't, you're obliged to physically confront them. If that happen, you will die.
