Not a problem, ignorance (the "don't know something" definition, I'm not calling you ignorant) is not malice. "I don't know" is not offensive or malicious, "I don't know nor do I care" is. Generally speaking, with a person's transition you abandon the old identifiers. Name is dead, pronouns are different, so on. What was is largely irrelevant, with the exception of medical matters. If you're over 40 and you have a prostate, it needs checked. Past that, stick with the new. So it does change the gender dynamics of the relationship, but the final orientation of the other person is just as up to them as it is for the trans person's gender identity is their business. Sometimes it's "I was always bi anyway," sometimes it's "I guess I'm pan now, cool," sometimes it's "I'm heterosexual with the exception of you." There'll be as many answers as there are couples.
