The writing was on the wall. Hulu and Netflix were ahead of their time. Then everybody wanted their own thing.

Honestly at this point I just use Tubi and Pluto.

Most things I would be interested in streaming are on either one of those.

I do think we're eventually going to back to there only being like 4 or 5 of these

There is no way Paramount+ and Peacock are not huge money bleeds

There's even more when you look at other countries. For example, here in Canada we have Crave, in addition to most of those. No Hulu though.

agree theres too many but even if you subscribe to all of them with no ads + some niche streamers (BritBox, Shudder, Criterion, etc) its less than a premium cable bundle.

Netflix already has exclusive content from two of Paramount's biggest IPs (Spongebob and Star Trek)

Also between my wife and I, we subscribe to 6/8 of the ones in the OP. But it seems like everything anyone talks about are in the two we dont have (Netflix, Peacock). Is that how everyone feels, or do we really just not have the two most popular

Netflix is definitely the most popular. I think Peacock is near the bottom lol

Max is my favorite but they fucked it up for ad-supported tiers by dropping the live CNN streaming feature with the update that changes the branding/coloring to black.

It's been that way since late 2021 at least.

For some reason Sony, Microsoft, and Google never got into it. I guess for the first two it might be because their consoles basically acting as hardware could be a conflict of interest.

There's absolutely no reason to be subscribed to all of them at once though. One or two at a time should be fine for most people unless you're consuming a massive amount of content

I only subscribe to Peacock... We get Disney plus and Hulu through our cell provider.

I've started watching the Xfiles, which is on Hulu. But that's all I really watch. My wife uses Peacock a ton and the kids watch a lot of Disney plus. Most of what watch I get with an antenna. Or use Pluto TV. I watch very little TV anymore so for me what we have is more than sufficient.

And now some of them share their exclusive programming. Like Disney+ and Hulu. You can also get two or three of those services in a bundle deal that's cheaper than the base rate for just one of them.

I wish keeping my viewing history didn't matter to me. I'd love to take advantage of those deals.

Well I didn't say they didn't do games. It's possible Google also had a conflict of interest, but I don't know if the Stadia even offered the various streaming services tho.

That's more them both being owned by Disney, I think from Disney buying Fox. But yeah, there's a lot of overlap now. Also with properties; Amazon has Rings of Power but LotR movies are on Max. As mentioned, Netflix has a Star Trek show, though part of that's because the show in question was cancelled and removed from Paramount.

Crunchyroll is the only one I stay subbed to throughout the year. I piggyback off of my sister's Disney + and my mother's Netflix. Hulu, HBO Max, and Prime I will sub to when the shows I want to watch air and cancel immediately after they're gone. (Bleach, various DCCU shows and Dexter, Invincible and the Boys respectively). HiDive I stay subbed to longer than I need to because everytime I go to cancel they offer me like $3 to stick around for another month. I literally only need it for Danmachi and Oshi no Ko though. The other programs don't offer me anything that low for sticking around even though they do try.

I get Disney/Hulu/ESPN through Verizon
Peacock through Xfinity
Amazon Video cause I have Prime
Paramount through Walmart

So I really only feel like I'm paying for Max and Apple which are both cheap, and Netflix which isn't cheap but it always has something I'm interested in.
Idk, sure beats Cable where you have ads and have to watch whatever they decide you have to watch
