there's one scene where Dexter just stands in plain sight of the guy he's stalking

I wish I could find a clip of that fucking scene. Barely anyone remembers because if you're checked out it doesn't seem like much of anything but it's so bad. Just dead ass staring at the guy in a bright blue shirt like 6 feet away, which he obviously notices, so he slashes Dexter's tires and they have the gall to have ghost dad be like "This guy's good!"

Firstly, the rules state that the bot must have an effective weapon? Does that mean pushbots and wedges are no longer eligible, unless it's got a buzzsaw like Atomic Wedgie?

Pedantry ("I'm not touching him!") from the Hydra driver is as hilarious and annoying as the cow catcher attachment. This was... wait, Team Whyachi?! As in Son of Whyachi?!? Screw Hydra, give that ugly rubbery HUGE the win.

I want to chime in and second "The Long Night" as the worst GoT episode. Like there was still a little bit of hope for the final season until that happened. A whole series buildup to something that was resolved in a pretty average battle (by series standards). Not to mention it was poorly filmed.

And this is probably an unpopular opinion, but the episode of Avatar:TLA where zuko hangs out with the girls on the beach. I know most people will say the episode from season 1 where Aang has to lead people through the tunnel (sorry I'm bad with episode titles) but I just feel like that episode dipped too far into relationship drama for me.

That was a fairly recent change to get more active bots/weapons.

Simple lifters like Duck/Biohazard or grabbers are still eligible but you are at a real disadvantage when it comes to judging unless you are good at using it to flip or put them into hazards.

Definitely disagree because it was the first time we see Azula's anxieties and cracks in her relationships, which have payoffs later. The writing was hokey but I don't think it was necessarily worse than like, every Aang/Katara scene.

That's fair. There is definitely a difference between just a bad episode of TV and a bad episode that damages the series as a whole.

I guess my mind just went more to the former. Worst episode to actually watch.

Here it is for anyone else that wants to see an incredibly boring and anti-fun robot fight. https://youtu.be/bjtpniF8EP8?si=ONiVOEYbM4Df8WAU

Edit: for people without context the smaller dark colored bots normal weapon is a flipper that sends robots flying crazy high and it's very exciting. Technically that weapon is still there under the rack attachment.

I remember that one.

Battlebots biggest problem is most of the matches end up either boring or over very quickly.

The best I can remember for any one bot in recent memory is when Ribbot had back to back memorable tournament matches against Uppercut and Black Dragon.

One match it somehow survived despite catastrophic damage and the other match the opponent survived despite spending over two minutes on fire.

but yeah 100% the biggest thing the show suffers from is having literally zero fucking clue what to do with the adult timeline. i wish the show was just the wilderness, i particularly enjoy akilah getting a bigger role this season

I don't think it was atrocious, beyond the normal "punt the adult storyline into the sun" sentiment. Had a feeling Melissa was going to be the 8th after she started getting prominence this season, but rip the Mari dream.

shauna in every timeline is horrible and her being the "main" character is incredibly frustrating and if she somehow survives to the end of the series I will be livid

that being said, I'll allow it in the wilderness because I don't want that part of the show to end. I need to know how we get to the pilot and pit girl (which has to be Hannah at this point, yeah?)

i absolutely do not care about the adults at this point though. Nat and Lottie dying really, really hurts the adult timeline to the point where I don't think it's salvageable. But I'll happily take another two seasons of wilderness. I need to see Joel McHale quip his way into an axe to the face.

e: Lottie > Mari > Nat > Misty > Akilah top five

"Whatever the Case May Be" is a bad episode no matter where it's placed.

"The Fly" is not my favorite bottle episode (Hi Community), but I agree that it doesn't deserve the hate it receives. Absolutely perfect at showing Walter's truest paranoia, gaslighting, meticulousness, pride, and inability to let things go causing more and more problems for himself and everyone around him. He is a genius and a remarkable man for the things he can accomplish through his standards and unrelenting drive, but that's also what makes him such a monster because nothing is ever enough.

The entire adult plotline in that episode was one of the worst things I've ever seen. Melissa is alive? Cool. Maybe we should have known she existed in the wilderness before the 3rd season. And for her to be married to Hannah's kid is just the worst way to figure that out. And then Shauna's paranoid delusions about someone trying to kill her continue to be absolutely fucking ridiculous to the point that she BITES INTO MELISSA'S ARM?! That was somehow worse than her stabbing Melissa which was what I was expecting to happen. Like, what happens from there? Either Melissa's going to die to save Shauna the need to face penance or they're going to have to come up with some really fucking stupid explanation to give to Mel's wife about why there are chunks of flesh missing from her arm. Not only that, but Shauna is irrationally blaming a human when she actively knows that there is supernatural shit going on like it always has. The wilderness never left her but she's blaming people now?

And then the whole Taissa plotline is going off the rails. They can't even have her actually kill someone in a palliative ward with a pillow given she was willing to straight up murder a dude for picking up a card off the ground? She just screams and he happens to die at that exact moment? Make her at least actually accept the devil's bargain for Van's life - we already had one serendipitous circumstance with the waiter having a heart attack. This whole 'will she won't she' with her evil half is really stupid and we still don't have an objective for what her evil half is actually trying to do. She's the only one visibly possessed by the wilderness and now that Lottie is dead (though it didn't happen in this episode, WHY? Lottie was the best character in both timelines), her inner demon is the only thing left that can possibly be considered the antagonist of the adult plotline.

Anyways character rankings:

Lottie > Nat > Misty > Mari > Akilah > Travis > Van > Tai > who cares > Shauna > Van's scar makeup for wilderness

For the adult timeline, Misty > Walter > Callie > Van > Jeff > Tai > who cares > Shauna > Van's scar makeup again

So yeah basically "adult timeline is ass"

Nothing makes sense and there's no direction and it drags down everything around it. Honestly I've stopped trying to make sense of it and wait for it to pass at this point. Everything you brought up is completely valid. Christina Ricci deserves better, she is carrying what is left of my good will on her whole back.

Van's scars have never looked the same twice I don't think.

Like I said I am too invested to drop it, and I genuinely love the wilderness so I hope they keep that going strong at least. Lottie definitely is/was the best in both timelines though, I agree.

Yellowjackets S1 was like "hey, here's a story told in two parts simultaneously: the slow breakdown of civility of a group of girls stranded in the wild, and the ways in which the terrors of surviving that past affect them in the modern day, and maybe some supernatural shit?"

S2 was like "hey here's a story told in two parts simultaneously: a kid gets lost and girls party while they have no food, and the big mystery and conflict set up in the first season turns out to be a pretty toothless self-help retreat but also there's a silly murder that sort of undoes the tension created in the first season but at least Elijah Wood is there to be the one thing to look forward to"

I haven't watched watched S3 but from what I've heard, it's "Joel McHale is a creepy mountain man who kills crazy teenage girls" which does, to be fair, sound way better than S2
