I'm not sure what it all entails but it's definitely quite a process since they have us here at 9am even though the surgery isn't until 12pm. Then the surgery itself is supposed to take 2+ hours.

Anyway, wish her luck!

Thanks, everyone! It really means a lot. She is now officially "under" aka knocked out by the anaesthesia. It turns out it will actually take more like 3 or 4 hours so we decided to go home during the surgery.

I've been a long time GFaqs lurker that never partakes in posting. I read your topic title and felt it on my heart to let you know that you are not alone. My mom has stage 3 uterine cancer and was brought in at 11:30am this morning for surgery. The surgery began as of 1:20pm and they said it would be a 3-5 hour procedure. Words can't describe the amount of emotion I'm going through while writing this. I've been bottling it all up the last few months and I feel like it's all hitting me at once.
I sincerely pray that both our mom makes it through this and makes a swift recovery. Stay strong my friend.

My mom made it through the surgery without too much trouble. There were some minor complications but nothing serious and she's home with us now, resting. She even said she was not in much pain at all when I administered her meds a couple hours ago. :)

That is good news. Hope she recovers well.

My mother went through the same thing 8 years ago, though she didn't need to get a mastectomy thankfully. Though my mother was honestly more worried about me, my brother and my father than about herself.

Hey glad your mom is ok!! I hope the best of luck with everything else! Take care of yourself as well, it's also a scary situation for you too!

Unfortunately my wife is also battling cancer. I'm just home for a quick nap before I go back to the hospital, she was admitted last night, but still in ER waiting for a room. It's been a tough week for her.
