I mean if the truth about the gaps, employers would really look down on? Most employers really do view gaps very negatively right?

No what is it though, have very vaguely heard ....

I do interviewing and hiring at my job.

The whole "NDA" thing is absurd and don't ever do that. It immediately rings false and since potential employers are not obligated to hire you, they will not take the chance.

Realistically, if someone is concerned about employment gaps, it's most likely some degree of red flag in their eyes. If you can't give an excuse they'd accept, it's even worse. So, when you get down to it, there's little to lose in lying; you'll either get away with it or get caught & rejected for a job you would have lost anyway.

Heard about it before. Seems like a good idea since it is something hard to prove or disprove.

Just be honest about it. Why would you need to lie about an employment gap?

Serving time - they would find out from a background/criminal history check

Fired by previous employer - they would find out from an employment history check

Just wanted a break/travel etc - nothing wrong with that

I cant think of any reason thats both bad enough to publicly disclose AND employers couldnt find out through other means even if you lied.

Yeah good pt, kinda unfair , like gaps in employment is looked down on the most isn't it? Even like some severe criminal convictions , they usually ask about, how does this make sense?

It just seems like a good one. It's what I have used in the past to explain a three year employment gap. You took time out of your life to help a loved one in need. It's an indicator of strong character and devotion so it leaves you looking like a good person. It's not the sort of explanation that they are likely to want a contact for verification. If they did it would be family and they'd back me up.

I've always wondered if "I've been applying to shit and no one will hire me or even get back to me with a generic rejection email because this job market is a fucking nightmare" is a valid excuse, but I also feel like it might not go over the best.
