The games are all fairly isolated from each other, tbh. You'd be fine with starting with X, I think. Plot and how its presented? Very possibly, 2 is a lot more "immature" in how it presents itself whereas X takes itself dead seriously and is very "hard sci-fi" in setting and nature.
