It's still early enough to not be guaranteed, but...my jaw dropped so hard that it's even under consideration.

I absolutely fucking love Fata Morgana, its story is so good. I REALLY really really want this to pan out and be good.

Ultimately, it doesn't overly matter.

The Switch version has slightly more content, but the extra side story (Reincarnation) is generally considered pretty skippable.
The Steam version is cheaper and goes on sale more often. The actually good side story (Requiem for Innocence) is available for cheap on it.

The Switch version also has modified visuals, but your mileage may vary on that one. It's technically sharper, but I've always felt like the original backgrounds added to the dreamlike quality of the game. They were kind of intentionally made to look like a faded painting and I think it adds a lot to the tone, whereas the sharper visuals look a bit better but also feel slightly more hollow to me, but it doesn't really make a huge difference.

If cost isn't a factor at all, I'd probably personally lean toward the Switch version by a hair for portability alone, but it's a very negligible difference and you get the full story on both.

I'm leaning towards switch but $40 versus $16 tho. Plus steam deck is portable also just heavier and clunkier. I'd like the physical switch but even more expensive.

Yeah, for those prices, I'd definitely lean toward Steam. It's ultimately the same story, with the only missing content being something that's almost invariably considered very easy to skip and not that great.

I really need to play this... Got so intrested I bought the physical copy but by the time it arrived I had forgotten about it...

I'm on vacation next week, maybe I'll start it up... Haven't played a VN in awhile

I really hope you enjoy it when you play it. I absolutely love it, there hasn't been a single game that has ever grabbed at my heart to the level that Fata Morgana did. I was absolutely hooked.

I was thinking of how you'd adapt it. The best thing that I could come up with is a mini-series with hour-long episodes.

Maybe something like ten total, with the idea to generally cover one door per episode, except for door 8 which would take two, and then one more episode for the finale since there's a decent bit of content post-door 8.

May as well give this a daytime bump just in case anyone was interested but didn't see this. I'm still incredibly excited.

I was intrigued from very early on.

I was probably hooked somewhere in the middle of the second door.

Door 1 = Sloooow
Door 2 = Kinda good, but drawn out too long
Door 3 = A bit slow
Door 4 = Started to grab my attention
Afrer Door 4 = Hooked

Interesting, I would not have expected it to be adapted into anything, really; it's very well-written but it's hard to imagine it doing well in anything but written form. I have mixed feelings on the VN, but I'm curious enough that I might watch it if it becomes a show.

I would love this. I experienced The House in Fata Morgana in the summer of 2020. Amazing story.

I also started playing it... Honestly I was into it about halfway through Door 1... Really liked Door 2...

Not sure what you guys mean by doors but I'm assuming they're like chapters. I'll keep playing but right now it's kinda slow. Just throws you right in.

Essentially. In the first 5-10 minutes of the story, you get taken to a door, and when you go outside, the music turns cherry and you are watching a little girl and boy talking with each other. As you go through the door, the screen says this - it is basically saying Chapter 1. I put a spoiler tag over it in case you stopped before getting to what I described above:

Ah ok thanks. I'm at the point where the siblings are talking. Somehow I must've missed that small detail but they did make a mention of it being back in time. I'm curious where things will go.

For what it is worth, I think that part with the siblings is the slowest part of the whole game. It gets better from there.

I've definitely seen that part of the game kind of turn people off, since its big twist is a little on the odd side.

I didn't mind it, but I can see how people wouldn't care for it as much.

Bit random, but Fata is also on mobile now. Not sure how the pricing for it works.
