Fascism, literally. It is a broad movement about making America great but with bo clear definition on how to get there or even goalpost on when that happens. Fascism at its core is just a group think cult where the state is correct above all else. The problem is that fascists always think they are Nietchian ubermenches but are just losers larping.

It's a complete fuckin' aside but a piece of developmental trivia I like that this popped into my head:

"Babbling" in infant development refers to the repeated nonsense sounds made by a child figuring out their language centers, usually impersonating something they hear with a syllable followed by stuff that rhymes or sounds similar. Mom says "Boy," baby says "Buh huh fuh guh?"

The cool thing is that infants babble differently depending on the language spoken in the home. A Japanese infant babbles differently than one in Peru.

The really cool thing is that it even shows up in homes where the main communication is sign language. I've seen videos where an infant will hold up a hand and make a pseudo-sign (like "most of the letter S" or something) then start "babbling" in the same manner, just with their hands instead of mouths.

I feel like I've heard this before minus the sign language part (I did take a couple of linguistics papers at uni, and have read up a bit beyond that just out of interest, though can't say a huge amount of it stuck in my mind), but yeah, it's pretty interesting.

The courses I took were less about growth and development, and more about linguistics itself - like how languages work, how they're broken down, how they evolved from each other, etc. Some specifically had a focus on second-language learning, so it's most likely that where I picked up those kind of facts - while not the main focus, I do recall a few lectures contrasting natural language acquisition vs second language learning.

And yeah also, this was like 10 years ago with a very "C's get degrees" attitude, so I'm certianly a bit rusty on the details by this point.
