No. I watched the trailer. Looks fine to me. Love Shrek, looking forward to it. Ive largely enjoyed the entire series.

Looks like soulless garbage like everything else out there. I've gotten used to Hollywood half-assing and cutting every corner they can.

Nope. Looks the exact same to me, and I didn't even know there was already a 4th Shrek.

Maybe it's just been a while, but it looks like the same exact thing just with better fidelity.

i barely even noticed a change in art beyond the expected changes that would come from years of advancements. i legitimately thought people were just trolling when they were talking about how bad it was

I guess I wish that it looked more like Last Wish, but it looks fine

Im not pulling out the pitchfork but something about it looks a little odd. I know that its not AI generated but AI generated stuff tend to have a certain look and it kinda looks like that. Tho theyre still working on it, Im sure the final product will look just fine.

Its too bad tho, because Puss in Boots 2 looked amazing. Why not do something like that again?

It's because of Zendaya voicing Shrek's kid.

Not sure why TC is burying the racist lede behind this whole thing.

The joke in the trailer is horrible. Gives the vibe of being an out of touch unnecessary sequel, but it's also something I'll never watch anyway.

I just don't like it being self-aware. I don't want any character to say "Shrek is love, Shrek is life" in it.

Its just updated technology, the characters look aged up. I really dont see the huge issue.

I'm fine with them going for more stylistic than realistic, The Last Wish greatly benefitted from it. I'm just hoping that Zendaya does a better voice work job than when she voiced as Lola in Space Jam 2...because yeah that sucked.

Oh yeah thats the real problem. Swiping the mirror like its tiktok on a phone. Looking at funni shrek memes. I hate when internet culture gets referenced outside the internet. Reminds me of Wreck it Ralph 2 and we all know how that turned out.

Defiance of nostalgia, visible signs of change, etc.

It's too polished. CGI was still pretty fresh when the OG came out. Didn't even feature sub-surface scattering.

Watch Toy Story 1 and then 3 or 4 and something will seem off.

Additionally, the modern look is pretty generic, that's just CGI rn.

I wasn't crazy about the memes myself, but then using the mirror like a phone watching TikTok is perfectly in line with the older movies.

Farquad basically used it as tinder.

People shoulda outraged about the stupid Shrek in the Sky meme instead.

Nose is bigger. Has a new vest. More visible wrinkles on the forehead, cheeks and corners of the eyes. Significantly more expressive. Shirt fits a little better. That's one I could see being a nitpick--it makes him look more human, when he's not supposed to be human.

Okay, having watched the trailer, all the humor is pretty in-line with what the series has been.

It's just not a particularly funny gag. That doesn't bode well for a goofy comedy.

You know this was just a short thing they put together for a cast reveal and not an actual scene from the movie, right

Im not a fan of the new designs, but the actual animation is fine.

I didnt notice anything different from the trailer alone. But I stopped following the series after 2. Though I did watch and enjoy puss n boots 2.

seems good from what little I've seen, just a voice acting name reveal trailer

the only "negative" response I've seen was in relation to a theory that Shrek's daughter in the trailer is possibly trans
the explanation being that the only female ogre baby from the old movie had blue eyes and the daughter in the trailer has brown eyes like a male baby had

I haven't looked it up myself if that theory is correct but I also don't care, at all, so I won't waste my time doing that

I don't think there is anything objectively bad about the art, it's just generic. Most of that is on how rendering pipelines developed. Most modern CGI has that same overtly soft look to it.

The only real way it could have not looked that was if they changed the style entirely (dumb and unreasonable) or if they deliberately tried to make it look like 2000s CGI (hard sell for marketing type people).

That is to say, they didn't really change anything as much as Shrek's style naturally became that as technology developed.
