My friend wants me to play with him, and I have never played a monster hunter game before, I have played tons of JRPGs/ARPGS, but only one game that focuses on boss killing , Touikden Kiwami, and I was not a big fan of the gameplay looop where every mob is a health sponge boss that requires dedicated care and gameplay to defeat.

Sometimes I just wanna chill and not stress out during battle throughout the whole session.

Right now Im playing Star ocean Second story r, and final fantasy vii rebirth, and suikoden I and II R are round the corner.

I still wanna try out the MH WIlds game though, as it absolutely looks dope... and my friend and I never get to play games together, its just I am not sure if the gameplay loop of MH will burn me out

The Monster Hunter Franchise, for all intents purpose should be something I love, but the lack of familiarity with the sub-genre has me nervous, I dont want to spend 100$ on a game that I know nothing about either just because a friend told me to...

I buy the majority of my games on sale , usually at a deep discount, so spending 90$ is a lot of pressure for me to like a game, because its more than I would usually spend on a game that I know everything about and really want..

another reason i buy games as cheap as possible, as it allows me to appreciate the game without the pressure of the financial burden.

Not saying I cant afford it, but the more I spend on a game, the higher my expectations are set.

A bad game can still be pretty decent if bought at the right price (I dont expect a 5$ game to awe me, and yet it almos always does) , and likewise, it wouldnt matter if it was the best game in the world if it costed 250$ for the standard edition, at that price point I am expecting a game that is like 3 games in one, it would need to be an 11/10 to meet my expectations at that price point.

So yeah, at 90$ my expectations would probably be unrealistic of the game.

Either way, I am definitely gonna get it at some point, I wanna play with my friend but 90$ is a big ask for me right now after I just bought a bunch of stuff, but I feel bad cuz I wanna play the game too, with my friend.... ACK!

the combat feels the best it's ever been, I think. Not far enough in to drop the judgment call on difficulty yet, but what they've done to movesets and combo-flow for most weapons feels really good and I hope they build on it in the eventual G-rank expansion (I don't think switch skills are back ever, but we got focus mode, surely we can add a move or two besides the wound-poker every weapon has)

I've only played like an hour of the entire series, but I'm in danger of falling into the hype

I just finished a 3 hour stream myself. Wish I could've played longer, but I have other things to take care of now.

the difficulty criticism is overblown. I recently played through to GU G rank 1 and I stopped using Mega Potions because Honey Farming was annoying. I fainted maybe 4 times total and never more than once in a hunt.

if you dont use a new weapon itll all be relatively easy

Im using Charge Blade for the first time and Lala Barina gave me a much harder time than anything in GU did using the Sword and Shield.

although Id like it if they increased the threshold for wound knockdowns and the monster HP. But I am only at HR2

My major complaint is how much the cutscenes are taking over the game. So many sit on Seikret moments

Its been a smooth experience so far.

I left my cross-play on (PS5 side) so I'm not sure who exactly I'm joining for the SOS quests but there has been no lag or anything like that.

The story is definitely boring. Just let me blitz

I don't mind a corny and stupid story, but I heard this game's story is very restrictive. That's not good for a game where the story should be a secondary thing.

I'll have to see for myself in a month hopefully. Can't play the game just yet.

Existential crisis seems to have been resolved (new bios battery seems to have done the trick) and now we're installing MHWilds again.

This is the worst the multiplayer has been in a MH game ever possibly. Joining a friend is the worst online experience I've ever had in a game lol really surprised they were able to outdo themselves after Worlds.
