Neither did the kids, which probably would have made their lives easier.

I read them all when I was young enough to not realize they were a big christian parable. Finding out that they were a giant Author Tract was when I became an adult. :(

I'm not sure all would make for entertaining movies. 3-6 episode TV/streaming series maybe

I read all, only liked the first one. Thought he got too preachy in the others. The first was the most like a straight up fairy tale, even with the Christian message.

I think I read 5 or 6 of them.

I really liked some old TV version of it from like the 80s when I was going. The Diseny movies did little for me.

No. I was an atheist that knew Azlan was a blatant Jesus allegory (allegory really isnt even a strong enough word for it) before it was an option. I did watch the first movie though.

By the way, I highly recommend reading Lewis' Till We Have Faces. It's his retelling of the myth of Cupid and Psyche, and of course it has a Christian message but it's a lot more subtle and mature about it than his Narnia books. I never found it distracting, annoying, or an interruption to the story.

never watched any of the movies

I feel like both the Narnia books and the wizard of Oz books were children's books for a much different era, like dustbowl era children or something. Like they were for a specific century and point in time that would not hold up well.

I did want to read the book when I was a kid, does that count for something. I liked the cartoon so. But if you had told kid me that there were 7 books not just lion witch wardrobe then hoo boy

Read them all growing up and loved them. My parents bought me the big ass paperback collection. One big ass book lol we were catholic but I don't think they knew it was a Christian allegory.

Still, I remember those books fondly. Would be interesting to read them again. The first book in particular was the shit.

Never read the books. Seen the whole miniseries (went on a nostalgia binge and rewatched them all again 2 or 3 months ago) and the Disney remakes. Never seen the old animated movie, though.

The miniseries was kinda funny, now. Whenever they needed a female antagonist, they had the exact same woman behave in the exact same loud, foppy, bi-polar manner.

Yeah.

Didn't really enjoy any of the ones after Silver Chair (in release order).

There's a reason that both attempts to bring the saga to the screen fizzle out halfway through the series. It's because the back half is utter toss.

Read them all as a kid

- Loved Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe, like everyone else.

-Thought Prince Caspian was boring as hell. Thought the movie did it way better, when it came out.

-Dawn Treader was the opposite: Loved the book, Thought the movie was totally forgettable.

-To this day, I don't think I could tell you what the hell The Silver Chair was about, or what happened in it.

-Horse and His Boy was fine, but completely pointless

-The Magician's Nephew was an excellent return to form, is my personal favorite, and the one I always wanted a movie for.

-For being about the end of the world, The Last Battle is shockingly forgettable and dull, and is basically only remembered for its last 3 pages.

Magician's Nephew > A Horse and His Boy > Lion, Witch and Wardrobe > Voyage of the Dawn Treader > Prince Caspian > The Last Battle > The Silver Chair, imo.

Pretty neck and neck between Last Battle and Silver Chair, but the latter's just plain forgettable. Last Battle at least has some haunting imagery in the form of Tash.

I feel like I read up to The Magicians Nephew before I got so bored of the books but I honestly cannot remember. I feel like I read The Last Battle though so maybe I read all 7. God damn were they boring. I only read them because I was forced to by my family since they said I played too many video games and didnt read enough books.
