Finally happening!

2 is one of my favorite games ever, and one of very few games that I can see actually looking a ton better with a remaster.

About fucking time!!!!! This has been one of my most anticipated games since it was first announced.

I play both Suikoden 1 and 2 back to back every few years and I'm way overdue for a playthrough because I've been putting it off to wait for this.

Same goes for the Lunar games. Although at least the wait for that one hasn't been nearly as bad.

2 Weeks!, I was so nervous Konami was gonna end up cancelling it, I have been waiting over 3 years to replay Suikoden. I used to play it every year or two!

Game has a special place in my heart.. Shiro is my Baby! I once had an all white husky named Shiro after Suikoden II (he passed away but, he had an amazing life, so no regrets! he was my buddy! Besides, he lives on forever in Suikoden II, can't ask for anymore than that really!)

Ive never played either, Im hyped

Im not into remasters or remakes unless its a game Ive never played. Suikoden I and II are so good though and I have such fond memories of them. I have to say though even as someone who isnt picky about graphics as I grew up starting with Atari and games have been good enough looking for me for quite a long time Im a bit disappointed in how this game looks.

Such legendary titles deserved the same treatment Dragon Quest III HD-2D received from the ground up. That is the kind of effort it should have got. The character sprites are quite poor to me. I know this is a remaster, not a remake but I just hoped for better treatment.

Truly though Im happy for the people looking forward to this or the rare exceptions of people who never played them.

Lunar I'm interested in because I played it on a borrow and have never owned a copy.

RIP to Shiro.

I always use him in my party for a decent portion of the game.

just a clarification, the character sprites were actually untouched, they were not remastered.
(Similar Treatment to Star Ocean Remake)
Some people don't like the lower quality untouched sprites with the redone backgrounds and I feel that complaint, I wasnt a big fan of it in Star Ocean.

a part of me was kind of hoping they would also redo the sprites and just give us an option to use older sprites/graphics or newer sprites/graphics but it is what it is.

if were lucky , maybe someone will mod in some HD Character Sprites.

Im still gonna play it right away regardless.. I love the games too much

I would guess about 2-3 million players, all-time.

Whatever that math works out to. 99% instead of 99.99% then.

Yeah I meant the stuff they did do in the game is remastered, not the sprites. That is my main criticism is that the backgrounds were improved but the sprites untouched. It makes it a bit jarring, even to someone like me who normally isnt one to complain about graphics. I know that sounds funny since Im in fact complaining about graphics haha.

I just love these two games and think so highly of them I feel like they deserve better. If they had been given the care DQ III HD-2D got that would have been simply amazing.

I meant more along the lines of the gamefaqs crowd. Older gamers who are fairly hardcore into gaming. The people here that are still using archaic message boards dedicated to gaming are fairly likely to have played it if they were into RPGS.

Around these parts its pretty common to find people who have played stuff like Suikoden, Breath of Fire, Lunar, and all the other great games/series from that era. While I was already in my 20s a lot of gamefaqs that stuff was in their childhood and early gaming years that they hold so special.

Oh no doubt. Reddit and CE are very aware of it. I just think the wider gaming crowd out there still haven't heard about it probably - and most RPGs. I'm glad it's back and making a splash. Just being available on PC is probably going to double the amount of people who have ever played it, which I think is cool.

I just want it so I have a physical disc with the games and dont have to keep playing my original PS1 versions. My copy of 2 started freezing at times on the abomination boss fight so I dont touch it anymore.

they didn't fix the outstanding issue the series has of "the combat is completely worthless" so i don't think i'd ever replay any of them. the games tend to be good in spite of the garbage combat but i really wish they added a hard mode to make it worth engaging with the battle system

I am so ready. I'm not even playing anything else right now as a kind of palette cleanser.

100%. Gamer as a whole, yeah not that many have played it. Id wager most gamers under 30 havent even heard of it. So despite my complaints about the lackluster effort I truly am happy its coming out and more people can be exposed to it.

I work with some guys right around 30, 31 years old that a few are really big time gamers and they have no idea what Suikoden is. On one hand that wounds me haha, but I was young once too and wasnt always aware of stuff that older people were fond of.

I bought it digital and my friend was kind enough to buy me the physical for PS5.
I'm excited to play it.

All 6. Yes even Triekis. I want 3 and 4 too. I know they get hate. 3s problem is its story structure. Nothing wrong with its story. 4's is its large part sailing game. Story is good too. Some people dont like sailing games. I do.

The biggest problem with 4 was the insane encounter rate at sea. The optimal way to play that game is with a game shark code that stops enemy encounters and connect it with a joker code so you can toggle the cheat.

I got into Suikoden late, with 5 being my first and 3 and (part of) 4 after that. It's only by pure chance that I was able to nab 1 from my cousin (and I still haven't played it), and of course, 2 has been completely out of reach for me. Needless to say, I'm super looking forward to this~

i feel like remasters should always have hard mode to challenge returning gamers, but many don't. or they have hard modes that barely do anything (grandia 2). it sucks playing an rpg whose combat is so pathetically easy that there's literally no point in engaging in any of it

I'm curious if there are going to be any qualify-of-life upgrades

I doubt hard mode we be hard, for me I like the adventure and recruiting all the stars of destiny.

Hmm. I was going to replay FFIX after I finish Chrono Trigger but this may take priority. Not even sure I've played them before. I know of them for sure, I think I've played them, but doubt I beat them. Even if I did, it's been so long it'll be like fresh plays anyway. When I started Chrono Trigger this past weekend, I was surprised at how much I don't remember about it.

To be fair? The version of Lunar we're getting is hard mode. It's based on the Working Designs version which was more difficult than the game in Japan. What they should have done is included an easy mode that maintains the original difficulty and bromide locations.

I'll be getting this as soon as there's a discount on Steam. Never played either before
