Honestly, it's up there. I know it's easy to write off as a popcorn blockbuster, but there's a few good reasons why none of the sequels recaptured the magic of the original; one of those is that Spielberg understood that spectacle is nothing without buildup, and he took his sweet, sweet time masterfully building up the sequence of reveals in JP (the first brachiosaur, the t-rex, and the raptors).

Is it his most successful movie ever, box office? Not box office, but people who have ever seen it?

Yes

Schindler's List and Jaws are contenders

But Jurassic Park is the most memomorable and impressive from a technical standpoint, even if it's not the most scientifically accurate movie it redfinined how everyone viewed Dinosaurs. But beyond that is Jurassic Park blends so many different genres of film together to perfection I don't if there is another that does that.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is 4th, ET is 5th. Crazy how many classics the Spiel man has directed.

I really miss the ET ride at Universal.

Well for one, velociraptors are only as big as a turkey and not the 7ft tall menace they were depicted as in the movie.

Now don't get me wrong I love Jurassic Park, but it probably wouldn't crack my top 10 Spielberg movies. My top ten would look something like this. In no specific order.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Jaws
The Color Purple
E.T.
Schindler's List
Saving Private Ryan
Catch Me If You Can

JP is a god damn fantastic movie but it's definitely Schindler's List

I might also put Raiders above JP

No. Not even close. I like Jurassic Park and all but Spielberg has directed many better movies in his time.

Personally I view JP as the spiritual successor to Jaws in terms of direction philosophy - it takes the ideas that Jaws brought to the table and refines them / makes them grander.

So at that point it becomes an Alien / Aliens, Terminator / Terminator 2 situation where it boils down to personal preference between the stripped-down original versus the expansive sequel (and in both cases I favor the latter).
