With Daredevil Born Again around the corner, I wanted to watch the Netflix stuff. So far I have watched:

Daredevil season 1: S tier first season. One of the best first seasons I have seen. 10/10

Jessica Jones season 1: fun dynamic and good villain. Too long though. Solid show overall, 7/10

Daredevil season 2. A worthy but weaker follow up. The hand/Elektra suck. 8/10

Defenders: mostly boring with some cool moments. It's the Hand again, so it wasn't that good. 6/10

As I am running out of time before Born Again I have skipped Luke Cage (can come back if he's announced for MCU) and iron fist (reviews are just way too low)

I decided to watch the Punisher as he's in Daredevil Born again. I was very hyped for this series as the Punisher was the best part of Daredevil season 2....

...his show sucked though. This show did not have the content for 13 episodes. It felt like 10 episodes were just the Punisher and Micro talking in the bunker.

Billy Russo was pretty cool. Could tell some twist was coming. Dude was too smug and handsome to be a side character. Madani is a "fine" side character. Karen is always welcome where ever possible.

I don't care about the Punisher with Micro's family. He seemed to have better fight sequences in Daredevil. He was better in general in Daredevil, maybe he isn't suited for his own show?

On the MCU side I think secret invasion is the worst show and I think if rather watch that than the punisher, at least it's short and stupid funny. This is just boring for 75% of the run. I think I give this a 4/10.

Is season 2 worth a shot? I'm looking to skip but how do people here feel about it

The Punisher was awesome, how can someone not like it?

It's annoying how incompetent they make Madani in this show. Billy russo is obviously evil and yet she's hooking up with him? It's almost a cliche level of unprofessionalism to get involved with a person of interest, if not outright suspect.

The problem with The Punisher show is there is not enough of the Punisher, and by that I mean him being in the full costume and, y'know, punishing people. Most of the time it's just plain old Frank Castle kinda doing stealth shit in anything but the skull shirt and trench coat. He also spends a lot of time getting his ass kicked.

Final shot of season 2 was like, yeah, that's cool, but it's literally the final shot of the series.

Yeah I thought it would be an easy layup for me as I loved him in daredevil season 2. I did have some concern as it has a 60 something on rotten tomatoes and little fan discussion. I wanted to drop it so many times but stupid OCD me wants to finish any season I start.

Agreed. The action sequences were good but not enough of them.

People have been asking for marvel Netflix back and shitting on Disney plus MCU.... Disney plus stuff on average is better, just nothing on Disney plus is as good as daredevil s1 from what I watched

Its less about whats better because yeah most of the Netflix shows should have had shorter seasons but the storytelling is totally different, telling grounded stories about actual people rather than every Disney+ show which almost all devolve into multiversal cosmic laser battle shit with ties to all the other Marvel properties. People just want that back

The best would be a mix of the 2 styles, maybe that'll be daredevil with grounded story and the production of Disney plus. There's benefits to the Netflix version but the writers really need contact to fit 13 episodes and I don't think the shows outside of daredevil had the content to fit 13 episodes, even daredevil s2 is a stretch

i think Born Again is two 9 episode seasons so far

I will never understand Punisher adaptations that don't show a lot of the Punisher in the skull shirt punishing bad guys. I think the 2004 movie was the best at this.

I thought it was fine but he was at his best in Daredevil

S2 is kind of more of the same. I don't think you'll be that into it

i liked Jon Bernthal as the Punisher but i dont remember fuck all from the first season. lol

I remember the bad guys were smuggling drugs in the corpses of soldiers being sent home because that's honestly a pretty creative and fucked up scheme.

I did not like the Punisher show at all. Both season 1 and 2.
When it followed Frank it was good, but most the show was following these pointless side characters and their pointless drama. There really wasnt much action in this show overall, some episodes had no action.

I wish they more did like an older show where each episode was its own thing instead of this long drawn out thing. It didnt need all these side characters at all, every episode could have been like the comics, him mainly alone with no help. Take down a gang one episode, go after a child trafficker the next, drug dealer the next. Then every episode could have had action, no back stories or drama needed

Plus the girl the show follows in season 2 was so bad and annoying.

I watched season 1 years ago. My take on it from back the was that the first 11 episodes were a D-, and the last two episodes were an A+.

So little happened for most of the show, and then they just threw everything into the final two episodes. I almost think it was worth the slog of the season for that grand finale.

I'm watching Daredevil again to prepare for Born Again. Just finished S1, which was great. I remember liking S2 before Punisher was caught, then it fell off afterwards. We'll see how I feel this time.

I still need to watch the show. I hear so much conflicting stuff about it. I hear it's pretty good and some of the lcips I've seen sure were, but I also hear some stuff i wouldn't like. I've also never gotten into the Marvel MCU stuff, but I don't know if that's necessary.

Really wish they'd do a TV show adaptation of some of the Punisher MAX stuff. They weren't perfect and had some issues, but there was some great stuff there like Mother Russia. Barracuda would be cool to see too.

Basically the only things I remember about Punisher S1 are the prison fight and that Frank's buddy that is the antagonist or works for him or whatever was a total goddamn smokeshow.

Unless I'm forgetting something, there wasn't a prison fight in Punisher season 1. Frank did have a prison fight in Daredevil season 2 though.

I dont remember the season but found that scene where a dude made a sandwich and Punisher was upset he didnt make/bring him one was hilarious.

edit: It was first season. It doesnt really impact the plot in anyway so will post it

I think he only wore it once? I also disliked how daredevil season 1, Matt only got the costume at the end.

Pretty much. Replacing cool frank castle with ninjas didn't work. Felt like 2 seasons of TV mashed up together.
