1981 to 1993 with George H. W. Bush and Ronald Reagan

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_presidents_of_the_United_States

Most of the presidents afterwards had 2 terms each too. Only Trump and Biden bucked that trend (and Trump's a weird case since he pulled a Grover Cleveland, so idk lol)

America simply likes voting for the out party, it's really all there is to it.

It really feels like a big motivating factor for voters is "(X) Party has been in power for ___ Years and it STILL sucks around here, I'm going to vote for ___ because they'll shake things up!" and they frequently think this about Republicans who barely ever go out of their way to set up programs to help their constituents or alleviate them from a real immediate problem (especially any financial problem) they are currently facing.

Some of them though will start shitting themselves and slobbering all over Republicans constantly if they get like $300 back in taxes from some temporary Republican tax thing though.

Exactly lol. If you ever watched old presidental debates, they're still arguing a ton of the same shit 30-40 years ago that they are now. Healthcare reform, immigration, gun laws. It never ends

Dems haven't won consecutive presidencies without a death since Pierce and Buchanan.

Huh, you're right. The JFK and FDR transitions were because of their deaths. Didn't notice that

Yeah but also no incumbent whose first name is longer than his last name has ever been defeated and then elected on a later cycle.

Until now.

100% all it is. we get 4-8 years with nothing really getting fixed so then jump to the other party and see what they can do. just back and forth.

obama did good enough to stay. bush jr mainly got to stay because of 9/11 and the war on iraq. don't think many people really consider him too great of a president and the end of his term was another bad recession. the last great time in america was under clinton and most of us were too young to really know and he was busy with his extracurricular activities.
