I remember the gap between PS1 and PS2 (1994 to 2020) felt like an eternity.

Similarly, PS2's life cycle felt like quite a long time (2000 to 2006).

Since then, PS3 to PS5 felt like a blur. Now we are almost at PS6.

WTF.

We're old, mate. Things have changed.

The newest console I have is 11 years old. My TV has an N64, a PS2, a Mega Drive and an Xbox one connected.

My old Xbox 360 is connected to a TV upstairs. I think I play more games on that than I do with the consoles downstairs.

Social (i.e. in-person) gaming has fallen away a lot, which I hate. I miss getting the boys round for Trials or Worms, and before then the multitude of second-hand laptops from our dads that could barely run Unreal Tournament at 640x480 resolution.

For the most part I play games on my PC, and either just play alone, or with Mrs L&T sat on my lap.

1994-2020? What?

Yeah, it feels wrong to me too. Probably part of it is that it has no exclusives really, so I have pretty much just ignored it's existance most of the time.

This gen was particularly strange tho. Exclusives are slowly dying, pc is becoming way more mainstream especially with stuff like the steam deck, and devs never stopped developing for last gen consoles.

It leads to a very empty feeling gen because it never got to be its own. The switch is the only console this gen that fully cut off its predecessor

It's called being an adult there's a reason when you were a kid people always talked about "how fast kids grow up" those years are short from an adult's perspective but long from a child's perspective.
