fuck. this game.

A = jump
A (hold) = sprint on the ground (but you had to jump)

B = sprint IN THE AIR
B = spray can
B = spray can IN THE AIR (yes it's also sprint)

If you are holding B and press A to jump (like you would to sprint-jump in Mario) you will not jump. Holding air sprint cancels the ability to jump at all.

So going from a sprint to a fast jump and back to a sprint is like:

jump, hold A, tap A to jump (you'll lose the momentum also) after tapping A press B to "air sprint" the release air sprint and hold jump before you hit the ground to continue sprinting on the ground.

Really "what were they THINKING?!"

Coulda just copied Super Mario Bros's momentum system ffs.

Bart vs the World might even be worse. I had a soft spot for that one but it was probably just a rental and oooh the whole world.

The controls of that game sound like Skate or Die controls or heck skating in Winter Olympics. Just things not expected with 2 face buttons and a d-pad. I only know of Bart vs the Space Mutants now because of the Nerd still.

Inspired to play the game after seeing Poo's playthrough, or is this just coincidental? Either way, yeah, those NES games and even Bart's Nightmare for the SNES were all incredibly bad and stupidly difficult.

yea i saw that Poo had played it, but honestly it's been a thing for a while. i have the cart still. my living room only has an NES, PS2, and a Wii hooked up to the CRT cause that's what I play a lot of...

to be fair, i think despite the horrible controls, there are actually jumps that seemed designed around them. don't overthink it, let go of A, press B quickly, and you'll have the correct momentum for the ledges in stage 1.

Fester's Quest...here's the deal. PLAY THE EURO/UK VERSION FFS. Nobody knows about this but it's version 1.2 that fixed serious issues with the USA release. Mainly, the walls don't block your shots anymore. We played this all the time as a kid but I just can't.

lol, it's funny because Fester's Quest and Blaster Master were the two games my father was able to finish before I could. Fester's Quest was very confusing for me, especially the indoor 3D areas, and Blaster Master's Area 8 was just too hard (and scary). I never did finish Fester's Quest, but I did eventually finish Blaster Master multiple times.
