still my fav rpg but man i hated the gimmicky quick button press combos in the battle system so i mostly opted to use easier ones that can be done ether one or 2 button combo

I hated them enough to use a gameshark to automate them but now I kinda like it

great game, I replayed it when they made it available for purchase on psn.

the combos are much, much easier than I remember. and the random encounters frequency is much higher than I remember lol.

I can't remember which way it was but game mode should be on or off. I think on?

I say this because I remember the game had issues with registering the attacks until you change that setting on your TV. So if you have them, try changing it.

That's most likely why it was free for you. I bought it on ps3 and when it was available on ps5 it was free. Same for xenogears and a couple others

Crazy story but there are some truly excellent moments in the game. I would also always stick to the simpler additions because I could never get the more complex ones down; not to mention that the enemies could counter them and you have to suddenly change up your buttons to continue the chain. I love one of the castles themes.

Are you sure about Xenogears? I've never seen it on PS5.

One of the most overrated games of all time. Its not awful, just aggressively mediocre, but it does have probably the worst world map of the time, if not all time, and it generally deserves none of the hype it gets. Rose is cool though.

The story was awful, as was the voice acting, but the battle system was fun. The enemy encounter thingy was also kind of bs, since some maps had short timers and others had really long timers.

I did say it had some truly excellent moments, I didn't say it was a truly excellent game. I never finished it. I spoiled myself on the ending on youtube some time ago. Rose is awesome but I never want to play this game again even if I didn't spoil myself. I was playing it back in 2012 again and that was when I got the farthest I ever got. Also wasn't there something odd about the additions not being timed properly in the newer version? That seems quite unacceptable for something that demands such precise timing, I can't imagine that is very true. I played it with the original disc on a PS3.

....So I suppose it may be a person to person case, I was actually just reading a topic from this website about this when I did a web search hehe

I loved this game as a kid, but I probably wouldn't revisit it. I actually kind of liked the combo system at the time, though for whatever reason I could never pull off any of Albert's longer ones after getting used to them on Lavitz.

I've never understood the love that game gets. It's best aspects are woefully mediocre, even by oversaturated 1990's JRPG standards, and it's worst parts, like the writing, are godawful.

I really like the aesthetic of LoD but outside of that it's a b-class RPG at best from an era of endless A and S class games in the genre. It's weird to me people remember it so fondly

I checked and it's not. The only thing related to xenogears on ops5 is a soundtrack dlc for Theaterythm FBL

I first played this game when visiting relatives when I was in 5th grade. I loved the game so much I went back home and convinced my aunt (she had the PS1) to buy it. It was then that I learned that friggin' Greatest Hits with the ugly ass green labels took the color out of the discs. I was annoyed lol, but at least I had the game. Funny enough, I saw Black Labels on eBay a week or two ago. I was tempted to buy one since they were around $30 or 40. Thought it'd go for in the 100s.

TBQH this game seems like it is such a internet darling lately, 30-40 for the original copy is a good deal. Not sure how many copies were printed it did have a marketing campaign. There was a time when the original copy of Final Fantasy Tactics sold for stupid high money. More than FFVII (iirc and I have a black label copy of VII).
