Omg, I keep getting into this fight and neither Wyll or Gale have been jumping this the stupid chasm. I just realized this after like the 4th attempt.

Jumping is finicky with those -1 STR characters.

I wonder if there's a mod for permanent Enhance Leap out of combat.

I think this would break too much of the game, but giving low STR characters just a bit more jump distance would be appreciated. That negative modifier is a huge pain sometimes, especially when traversing the map over long distances.

It's especially silly that Rogues also suffer from this, when in actual D&D Rogues can get abilities that make them jump super far.

I jumped to a spot and Gale and Astarion followed but couldn't jump out even when I took control of them. So I had to reload a save, luckily it was a save i made like a minute ago.

To be fair, everyone should be scared after being abducted by mind flayers, having a parasite put into your eye socket, flying through the Nine Hells, then crash landing, just knowing that shit is not right with your brain.

See i generally judge characters in games like this based on whether or not I would hang out with them in real life and what kind of friend category i would put them in.

Gale, Wyll and Karlach all so far are definitely in the good friends I'd party with.

Shadowheart seems like she'd be a friend of a friend that I just wouldn't get to know very well.

Lae'zel is the woman that is just kind of a bitch but as you get to know her she's cool enough.

Astarion is the shady dude that I wouldn't trust but wouldn't have problems having around because he likey has connections to things I do for fun.

I mean Lae'zel is the only one that seems to be taking the whole situation seriously.

Shadowheart has seemed more concerned with being judged than the parasite. Now granted she did just recently open up about being a cleric of Shar and was surprised I didn't care, so maybe she starts opening up a little more now. We'll see.

That's good to know, and I don't know how many companions there are. I do know that there is a choice between Halsin and some Goblin chick I'm going to face soon. I've already decided I'm going to side with the druids and hopefully get Halsin back to the grove because Kagha needs to be stripped of her position.

It's a Ritual Spell. If you restrict it to out of combat it's just a time save.

I am really fucking loving how things work and interact with each other. This game might be almost perfect.

There's one part of the game I got a little stuck on but eventually found a clever solution. I then looked up a guide to see if there were any alternate ways to solve it but not only did they not think of my method, but the method they suggested took like 10 times longer and took a ton of effort lmao

So I've stumbled upon the underdark and I'm not sure if I should keep going. Is any of the game time sensitive? Like if I push through here do I have to worry about the grove closing or our parasites evolving?

A LOT of the quests and story beats are time-sensitive. Although in general it's a lot more generous than it seems. Usually the "time limit" doesn't start until you reach the specific instance (not area, but actually triggering related cutscenes) and the decide to leave, dawdle, Long Rest, etc. For example, you can take as long as you want to deal with the inn that's on fire UNTIL you actually reach the inn and see that it's on fire. THEN if you leave and don't deal with it will you have to deal with the consequences.

IIRC the Grove WILL close if you take too long to deal with it, but you'd have to burn through an unusually large amount of Long Rests to do so. As for the parasites, that's not time related at all and you can ignore that for as much as you want.

It's probably not too late at all. Keep in mind there are a lot of moments in the game where you might try to travel to a new area and the game will explicitly tell you "Traveling here will advance the story" or something like that. If you continue on to the next area THEN will a ton of quests in the area you're leaving will advance and/or be lost. It's pretty obvious when you reach those points.

So while it seems anxious that you might lose out some things that are important, as long you do every thing you want to before proceeding past points like that, and don't ignore things actively happening right in front of you (like people being attacked) you should avoid missing most big things.

Aside from advancing to a big new area (which the game will warn you about if you try), time advancement on quests is generally based on your number of Long Rests. Act 1 also has the strictest time-sensitive missions by far. I'd focus on the grove stuff first and firemost.

With that said, some character quest advancements are also tied to Long Rests, so you should still do them when necessary. Just keep making consistent progress and you should be fine unless you waste a lot of time.

Ok because I've done 3 long rests so far. I did 2 back to back because I didn't want the bloodless modifier.

God damn caves man. They are so enticing. Went to blighted village and found a cave full of spiders and now I'm exploring that.

Also there are not enough merchants in this game.

Yeah you basically have to intentionally stall to get locked out of things by time, for the most part.

Ok so I was NOT ready for the matriarch spider. That was definitely the toughest batter I've had so far and if she hadn't started missing consistently at the end it would have been a team wipe and was almost a team wipe even after I killed her. As far as spoilers go for the withering depths... is there anything more to that cave than what I saw? Because that place has given me PTSD and I really don't want to have to go back in there if I don't have to.

I'm also now out of revive scrolls and don't know what to do about it lol
