I used to listen to him. Has his audience gone down a lot since Sirius? Iirc he gets paid now more than when he was on regular radio though

His show was consistently GOAT status until he just stopped giving a shit and every show became him rambling about boomer-tier reality shows. I think he just ironically stopped keeping up with the times despite still having his ego. Years back there was a clip of him yelling during a staff meeting saying that his show needed current celebrities like Lady Gaga and this was years after she was a huge deal.

There was a stretch of time in the satellite era where Opie & Anthony was consistently better.

IIRC his numbers have plummeted and his show usually peaks around 150-250K listeners

He's probably extremely overpaid iirc he makes now more than, ever. Isn't Sirius really going downhill

I was a huge fan back when information access was very limited. Everything on his show was wild, from a different world.

Now I can watch weird shit whenever I want, in seconds. The mystery of weirdos has become banal.

The Howard Stern Show was fucking hilarious in the 90s. Nothing was off limits. I don't think even Stern could get away with some of that stuff now.

I also used to love Howard back in the 90's on radio and then the E! network show was required viewing every night. Private Parts is a legitimate good movie too.

But yeah, he has not aged like fine wine. His move to Sirius was supposed to be groundbreaking but he kept his show clean and really didn't push any boundaries like he threatened to do when he left terrestrial radio. And once most of the funny people around him started leaving the show (Jackie the JokeMan, Stuttering John, Gange), he was surrounded with these bizarre sycophants like Richard Christy and Sal.

His show is much more tame? Does he only do radio now, so now video of his show...etc....? Yeah I remember that, he claimed he would really push boundaries and they wouldn't fine him , anymore , on Sirius, iirc he is the most fined radio, in all of entertainment , by fcc?

Yeah his audience couldn't even be close to half of what it was. Is stern still sirius's biggest draw?

I like when his clips come up and his interviews are good.

The one thing that I notice is he makes people say the response he wants.

The person will tell a story or make a statement and he'll go "so you were xxxx" and they'll response "yeah I was xxxx"

Doesn't he get much more famous people to come on, now? Like really respected dignitaries , like 20 yrs ago wouldn't have happened. What changed?

He is an excellent interviewer, and I like his long-format talks with celebrities

He is unlistenable when he's just talking about whatever
