Gonna drive up the cost of goods and services, and drive up the cost of labour on top. Gonna get rid of entire swathes of workforces.

So if I'm adding it up right. Everything more expensive, less jobs, less products, less workforce mobility.

Surely, there is a carefully thought out contingency for this right? Something that makes a lot of sense and will be helpful to the working class

The old-school Republicans like my parents who genuinely believe that manufacturing jobs can be successfully brought back en masse to the US (and that Donald Fucking Trump of all people is the one to pull it off) will console themselves with the notion that it'll cause a lot of pain at first but be worth it in the long run. And then when the GOP inevitably gets drummed out of office over it, they'll lament for the rest of their lives that it totally could've worked if Trump just had more time and support.

yes the reality is, 4 years is enough to fuck us up with tariffs, but not enough for mfg. to come back en masse, so we're going to have to grapple with that reality also, that this may have been all for nothing.

See when you remove access to abortion and get rid of the Dept. of Education and child labor laws, suddenly there's a whole mass of untapped labor in the country.

The plan is to blame immigrants and say we need to deport them even harder, then blame China and say we need to raise tariffs even higher, then rig the voting system so they can't be voted out no matter what the public thinks. At which point they don't care anymore.

Also pull back child labour laws so poor kids can just work in those dangerous jobs and help out their parents who can't make enough money because of inflation, rising house prices, and high medical bills.
