The best way going forth right now is to stop protecting people for a little while.

Preventing people from having their faces mauled by leopards has just led them to think were crying wolf. Democrats have an admirable urge to protect voters from themselves but the end result is almost always insulating conservatives from the reality of their preferred policies. When it comes to some of it, it's time to remove the shield.

Protect our LGBT folk, protect minorities when we can, but...nope, the tariffs? You voted for it. You get it

"Dirty" has a very broad meaning. There are lines they still shouldn't cross, but they can't be afraid to fight fire with fire when that fire has been proven to be so effective that it's borderline mandatory.

This, Republicans need to be treated like a dog in training, the dog doesn't learn unless it gets disciplined immediately when it does a wrong action and Republicans need to start feeling the effects of all the stuff they vote against but benefit from anyways immediately instead of after a Democrat president comes in and saves them from their mistakes 4 years prior. You want tariffs? Okay enjoy your higher prices. Voting against FEMA funding? Sorry you're on your own next natural disaster. Hate welfare in general? Alright, I'm sure the blue states like CA and NY will enjoy sending less money to the people that hate them

Like...Trump is going to blow this big time. A lot of people are going to suffer and will be very surprised they are suffering. They are going to be shocked that their family members are being deported because after all, they just want to work!

If he does create these tariffs and if he does deport the entire agricultural workforce, it will explode the economy and make inflation under Biden look like childs play.

They don't want better policies, they want to be told more appealing lies. No one who actually follows policy would believe the Democrats are bad for the economy or against secure borders.

I switched from unaffiliated to democrat in 2016 but I think I'm going back to no party, but still rather left politically.

While I realize I was a bit in my own political/social echo chamber I didn't realize the rest of America was SO FAR OFF from what I thought was the 'average American opinion' that Trump would gain votes. However that's ok for me to be that off the mark, I'm an average American, not running an election campaign.

Researching how far off base the Dems were at messaging the average American, them trying to gain votes by adding the Cheney's and adding republicans to the admin entirely backfiring... Nah. I know the deck was stacked because of social media and news media being so biased or kids gloves... but nah.

I've always hated political parties (it leads to party above country, and boy o boy do we see that shit these days now) but one was at least not outright campaigning on hate...

I say we need an entirely new party that isn't run by the chucklefucks that missed the mark this much. (Yes that is pretty much a pipe dream in this current political system too but heh)

Anyway this post got away from me and was mostly just a stream of consciousness, but I'm feeling such frustration that it's this fucked up.

We're not getting an 'entirely new party.' Dems are the opposition here.

But seriously, enough with the Cheneys. It made no difference at all. It was an error because we focused on voters who didn't exist.

Was it even winnble? Prolly not. But it's a lesson for the future when people REALLY suffer.
