I give the first half a lot of credit and the main androids actor pulled a lot of weight, would agree with a 6/10 which I count as decent for a film.

No as while it wasn't that good it was better than three and Resurrection.

I liked the movie up until the end. It just had to add another turd to the punchbowl before the credits started.

Just watched it. Its not perfect but I really enjoyed it.

The worst part was probably the deep fake Ian Holm.

The hybrid at the end kind of looked like the engineers

My friend saw early test screenings and he was expecting bigger outrage because the movie doubles down on following the lore introduced from Prometheus and Covenant. I saw the movie and was impressed how much I enjoyed it. It's not perfect and some of the fanservice was in your face, but overall good movie. 7.5/10

Personally, its my favorite film in the franchise, with the original 1979 Alien as a close second. Ive seen Romulus 3 times in theaters already, love it so much. Great cast and crew, amazing setting and situation, and the last 20 minutes dial it to 100 and are such a blast.

For people complaining about the deep fake Ian Holm, they got his families permission and I heard they were actually happy to do so because they feel like Hollywood forgot about him. So its all in good faith.

Romulus was incredible, and did a good job of including stuff from basically ever Alien movie so far. It was the scariest and best looking film by far, and the acting was honestly great (the irritating "kids" were exactly what they were supposed to be). The reveal that WY fucks basically everyone over was great too, because we hadn't really seen many normal people before in the films.

I give it a 10/10, 9.5 if I think to hard about Rook's appearance (in fairness, the film might not have worked as well without it so who knows).

I did a re-watch of every Alien film with a friend recently, and I was surprised that no Alien movie is actually awful. Well, Alien 3 is tolerable at least with the Director's Cut.

8/10 for me

Only Alien I've seen actually. I liked Romulus enough that I will be viewing more of the series over time.

The ending didn't hit well for me. But the setting, situation, and characters were home runs.

If the ending didn't sit well, Prometheus and Covenant probably won't either. Best to start with the first 2, which have pretty universal praise and are arguably better than Romulus. Though, starting with Romulus they may not have the same impact as they did before. The original is like 50 years old, but it still holds up remarkably well.

Alien 3 is a hard movie to enjoy. It's time, characters, and story take such a bitter tone that there's not much room for anything enjoyable.

Resurrection is more of a dark horror comedy than anything. It feels like this is point fans get whiplash from 2 of the best movies ever produced, to a really bad one, to a mockery of the source material. But it does have its moments, unlike Romulus, Resurrection kind of nails the ending really well compared to the rest of the movie.

The alien vs Predator movies are just pointless monster vs monster movies. Not much substance to them. Only watch these if you really just wanna see some mindless killing featuring dumbed down versions of the monsters.

I cant tell if youre joking here or not. You thought the ending of Resurrection was better than the ending of Romulus??

I dont hate Resurrection as much as others do and thought it was an entertaining movie overall, but the ending is by FAR the worst part of the movie. Romulus pulls off the whole human/xenomorph hybrid thing much MUCH better than Resurrections joke of a finale.

The creature in Romulus is a lot more creepier and terrifying, and that whole scene is a lot more cinematic and epic with its resolution, especially that big panning shot in space showing the ring of the planet, after the creature dies with the main character in a space suit climbing up into the ship. Beautifully shot scene with a phenomenal score, one of my favorite moments.

It's so much dumber looking and tied into with the horrible plot stuff of the prequels. It didn't need to be there, felt totally tacked on and pointless. It highlights one of my grievances with the series with it becoming an adult in literally seconds.

For Resurrection, at least the movie actually built to that ending. Like I said, it's not a good movie, but imo that ending felt earned and Romulus's didn't

Alien 3 is definitely the 2nd, due to the way it stabs fans in the heart. Only Covenant can beat it. At least Prometheus was fun to watch. (BTW, regarding character stupidity in Prometheus, this might just be an ass pull, but the creator claims that Vickers intentionally hired incompetent people because she wanted her dad to fail.) Not to mention that Covenant ruins some of the suspense by having David cut his hair. I also had serious issues with the neomorph designs. The most glaring example is that their incredibly spindly legs would be far too weak to allow them to run, and their bones would break easily. They also look less scary than the xenomorphs without an exoskeleton.

As for Alien Ressurection, it's not that bad a movie so long as you don't take it too seriously. It has the friggin' cross-breed infant, the most disturbing-looking thing in the entire fucking franchise.
