Ive told people that gas was cheap because fewer people were driving and they just said nuh uh! Its rediculous.

The fact that Trump supporters are continuously trying to rewrite recent history is highly annoying. 2020 wasn't very long ago. We all went through that shit together and have vivid memories of those times.

Thinking about the stranded oil tankers unable to deliver their oil because demand cratered so badly.

Conservatives rewriting history is nothing new but you're absolutely right about how irritating it is.

I actually had a conversation with a coworker about gas prices last year. He said "Joe Biden shut down the Keystone pipeline." I explained that the Keystone XL pipeline was shut down when by SCOTUS during Trump's term. He didn't believe that, but I showed him an article supporting it and he just moved on to something else.

He was complaining about gas prices going up, but didn't want to acknowledge the fact that gas prices were only so cheap under Trump because of the covid lockdowns. Also the fact that Trump made a deal with OPEC to cut oil production for 2 years in 2020. He literally tried to argue that oil production tanked around March of 2020 "because that's when they found out that Joe Biden was going to win the election."

Fucking ridiculous.

Yeah, it's a circular "logic" black hole of stupid. There is so much shit from gas prices, empty store shelves, to inflation that they just hand wave away depending on what they are currently saying in that exact sentence.

They don't have any actual beliefs. They'll be mad at whatever Dear Leader tells them to be mad at and when presented with evidence they'll ignore it or handwave it away.

If you ask them what they believe in, they'll spout platitudes like "God, family, country, 2 genders, etc." They can't defend any of it but will call you every name under the sun when you question them.

I still don't think they understand what the Keystone Pipeline was for. Canadian oil being sent to other countries. We could have gotten free oil...in our drinking water.

They don't. They were just told a pipeline was shut down and it would make gas $.30 again and they believed it.
