Less doubling down and more pivoting, because unfortunately this movie doesn't get made without Ridley's say so and unfortunately Ridley made that bullshit part of the canon.

I genuinely enjoy Ridley expounding on the Alien lore. I enjoyed Prometheus. I dont quite understand the complaints from other fans.

it did suffer from member berry syndrome tho since it reminded me of the first movie a lot...

It's the least bad black goo in the franchise

TBH a not-alien movie that's just about Weyland-Yutani would be pretty cool. Maybe like some prequel stuff that made them want to search for the xenomorphs in the first place.

There's a lot of things that make no sense in aliens IDK why you stop there. Acid blood that is powerful enough to burn through an entire space station seems like basically magic.

thats the thing what makes the xenomorphs scary is how utterly ALIEN they are

they are a life form that is 100% different than anything we know

they dont need a origin

and if they HAVE to have one

they should be natural evolving on a planet that is by all rights impossible

making them something grown in a lab makes them just another monster

It was okay/good

Better than Prometheus and covenant for sure, but I was just expecting a little more.. something more unique

Watched it the other night and thought it was decent. Not as good as Alien and Aliens but hell of a lot better than everything else in the series. Had one question though:

If this movie takes place between Alien and Aliens, how come the pulse rifle that they use at the end seems way more advanced than the ones the Colonial Marines use in Aliens. This one basically straps on to you and has an automatic lock on feature while the ones in Aliens are just like any other gun with no lock on (besides the smart gun).

Is there ever a good example of explaining the backstory/origin of a mysterious force/monster and having that be beneficial to the material?

Oh, well, you see, it's because in both movies none of it makes any fucking sense, they answer less questions than they raise, and every single character is the dumbest character in the history of film.

It was a good retelling of the story to get it back into mainstream minds and try to erase the bad feelings toward the previous movies. Like Prey did again recently or what Force Awakens was supposed to do. They just need to follow up on not dog turd unlike the Star Wars movies.

Might be a hot take but I honestly don't mind the black goo. It's visceral and no telling what it will create. Plus it makes no sense for the xenomorphs to be some creatures from a homeworld when their entire life cycle is based on growing inside other beings to adapt to the environment of their victims.

Plus, the way they grow, their acid blood and all their body modifications just scream artificially made.

It was a great film, and a good entry into the Alien franchise.

Nope. Easily the best since Alien/Aliens, even if that bar isnt exactly high.

Alien 3 used to be my least favorite until I saw this.

Agreed. Aside from the last 10 minutes, I thought it was an A+ movie. Didn't break any molds, but it did a hell of a job all the same

I would say it was better than AVP2 and Alien 3, 4 and 6, but still mostly forgettable.

It wasnt terrible but it felt like I was watching a CW version of Alien

I don't mind the Prometheus strain/black goop either. Thought it was an interesting concept.

Also, while Xenomorph Prime is a place in the comics, upon careful reading they are not indigenous to the planet. Their origin is thus still kind of a mystery.

Considering how they don't seem like something that can ever exist in nature with how they just kill all life they come in contact with, I favor they are bioweapons made by the Engineers. The fact the black goop itself was weaponized by the Engineers does seem to suggest as much, but the fact the black goop or something similar can be obtained from the Xenomorphs (as done in Romulus) makes what came first unclear for now.
