Yes, she has spoken about her ideas in speeches.

Yes, we have a good idea of what she stands for.

Yet she has not yet announced an official platform or agenda.

It's a bit frustrating, as there is nothing "official" to cite when debating with people about the election. Some analysts are saying that this is "vagueness by design," allowing groups to project their wishes onto her. That's fine to a point, but the "she stands for nothing" cries are already starting.

And we already know that the debates are going to be both candidates ignoring the questions and just rattling off scripted talking points.

She needs to put her agenda in writing

Why? I'm a staunch Harris supporter and will vote her 100%. It's a valid complaint, though, to say we're ~70 days out from an election and she hasn't stated what she's running on

It so odd no one has posted an article with an entire list of her platform if she has one like a few said in this thread. Instead some are attacking TC over it.

I think what is happening is Biden was the candidate and he had a platform and stuff he stood for. He got switched out for Kamala who hasn't really had to go on record on many issues. So Kamala hasn't had time to create a platform. The thing is other people are running for House/Senate seats with or without the Biden dropping out stuff. So the DNC should have had a platform out for the down ballot races by now.

Why do people keep saying she has no platform like they have no clue what she's going to do or something? Do you really think she is going to be radically different from the DNC platform or something you can pull up on the website?

What are you looking for? Like literally all I need is "She doesn't want to be a dictator and she has no plans to get the military on US soil to put down expected protesters to some sort of awful plan"

That DOESN'T mean she has no ideas or no ideologies or no proposals.

You realize of course you are grasping.

You think there is large group of undecided voters, who are reading both Kamala and Trump's websites looking for the "official" policies, but they refuse to watch any ads, videos, interviews or speeches.

Fine, this is a criticism you can make against Kamala, she got all right answers but she didn't show her work. Okay professor take 5 points off her exams.

But how many points are you taking off for the guy who shit on the exam, tried to kill study partner, grabbed female classmates by the vagina?

I'm not really sure why she hasn't put it on her website yet either. She's talked to press outlets about the dim shape of her plans w/r/t taxes and supply-side housing investment, but it's odd they haven't been added yet to the site.

(e: odd to me, not odd as in she is not acting like other candidates. i frankly don't know or care when candidates usually post their policy plans directly.)

Nothing really wrong with that.. people nowadays dont really leave much room to discuss things anyways. The person who does would be instantly crucified and vilified the more they elaborated on certain issues. Without the trail of breadcrumbs, the best those crazies have is a speculation without merit and are much easier to shut up the day they come with so you think

I think what Torey's saying is...

She's spoken about her policy aims and many major publications have written stories about what she's said so far. The information is already out there, even if it's not on her website yet. So if you want to criticize it, go criticize it. You don't have to wait to say what you already want to say, if that was your goal.

Just an assumption.

It is becoming a right-wing talking point, nonsense though such a point is. She pretty much laid out her platform in her DNC speech.

I'm guessing she will but just hasn't yet.
Writing and editing something like that can surprisingly take several hours, and she's had the busiest month in human history.

https://bad-faith-times.ghost.io/democrats-are-saying-no-to-leslie-knope-politics/

Its not only that the New York Times and other mainstream outlets would create the kind of coverage that is devoured and intentionally misinterpreted by far right propaganda outfits, but that these mainstream papers and news channels would run to the nearest centrist think tank or former Obama administration official now working for some insane right-wing Silicon Valley billionaire and ask them for their thoughts on the latest progressive policy ideas. The mealymouthed centrists, proudly proclaiming that better things arent possible, will dismiss the progressive idea was pie-in-the-sky and unrealistic and chastise the Democratic policymakers for not working with their Republican counterparts, who want a swift end to American self governance and have never asked Democrats for their input in policy making. Millennials know this formula well because we have seen it play out over and over again in what has been a maddeningly unfair fight between Democrats stuck in the 1990s and Republicans ready and willing to break down any democratic guardrail to get their way (All those supposed guardrails we read about after Trumps election: Theyre all gone).
This kind of coverage feeds the far-right media echo chamber and puts the Democratic candidate on defense. Harris would be on her back foot, trying to explain away the cost of such vital programs and policies both to respectable mainstream outlets and bad-faith operators working for Republican propaganda outlets like Fox News. Harris people saw this happen to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, who played the game the way major media companies want it to be played: You give us your ideas and well cover those ideas in ways to open you up to Republican attacks.

The Harris campaign, extremely online and clearly scornful of the Obama approach to politics, rightfully wants no part of that cycle, so the policy details will continue to be sparse.
The Harris campaign is the first Democratic campaign to understand that once you throw policy details into the wind, they will be used against you, never for you.

It's especially weird since she could get away with just putting her own spin on Biden's platform. His was fine.

This is like the one legitimate complaint about Harris. As a policy guy I can never fully get behind politicians who don't define themselves and take a stand. It comes off as being intentionally vague hoping people just assume the best about you. Yes I get we can just guess she supports Biden policies + the stuff she mentioned in speeches, but we shouldn't have to.

Even Trump has a platform, despite people ignoring it in favor of Project 2025. Even RFK Jr. had a platform. These are joke candidates, you can't be more sloppy than them.

I think you should really consider how this undercuts the argument you're making here.

Trump is clearly suffering for the presence of the details people have seen from Project 2025, and the existence of an official platform that differs is doing little to create distance between himself and those policy proposals.

What incentive does Harris have to put out concrete detailed policies that
1) will be different from anything Congress ends up passing
2) will only result in NYT headlines about the cost
