Anyways I took the average of electoral votes the Democrat candidate got in the last three elections and got 288. That sounds about right for Harris this election - was always thinking she'd win but uncomfortably close. And there's still plenty of time for things to go wrong. Speaking of sexual misconduct, this is admittedly a loaded topic but I feel like the news tends to make too big a deal about any celebrity accused of seemingly heinous crimes to the point where they're all equated. I'm sorry if I seem like I'm stepping on peoples' toes with this, but given Weinstein's lawyers were successfully able to argue for his rape conviction in New York to be overturned based on the narrative of the media being out to get him or something it's clear it's a mainstream enough position. Though I'm not arguing so much about people like Weinstein so much as I'm arguing about things like that news story in 2018 where like eight or so women accused Morgan Freeman of looking at them in ways that made them uncomfortable and then the media starting acting like Freeman was the next celebrity exposed by #metoo. I do not however begrudge women for coming forward with their stories - it's fully possible to take a middle ground here. Where this has relevance to politics is unfortunately I think this kind of sentiment against media attention was another factor in getting the BS Supreme Court ruling on Trump v.
